Noreaga - Grimey; God's Favourite Review
« on: June 21, 2002, 04:49:08 AM »
yea, this hot shit be dropping 25th of June. That's only 4 days.
It's dope as fuck, some real gangsta shit.
Dont expect mind-blowing lyricism like he Ras or Talib though.
Beats are banging and it's some proper gangsta shit.
Watch Neptunes-haters hate it though  ::)
I been a fan of Nore for some time, but I've heard this album almost hundred times now, so I'll be unbiased.

Make sure to cop this, here's a lil round-up:

1. Hit Me Slime
A "Call me back slime"-skit.
Not worth much
BTW, "Slime" means nigga, homey, yaknow.

2. God's Favorite
A nice intro, builds up anticipation. Pretty dope funny intro.

3. Nothin'
The mainstream hit-single.
Prod. by Neptunes.
Pretty dope, not spectecular though.
4.5 of 5

4. Grimey
Yall heard this banger, str8 grimey.
Real gangsta-shit rite here
Prod. by Neptunes

5. Nahmeanuheard (ft. DWNLZY)
Prod. by Swizz Beatz
Pretty dope, but the remix is even better.
4 of 5

6. Mr. CEO (ft. Musaliny-N-Maze, Gold [Oro] and Troy Outlaw)
Dope funny shit.
"ah Yes how you do today? My name is N O R E, (who?)
that's pronounced NOOOORAAY.
I'm here on behalf of Thugged Out Militainment, I'm here to see the president of the record-label, I believe his name is Mr. aaahh.. Eisenhof. I been out here quiet some time, so could you let him know that I been waiting and uhh... can he please hurry his ass up, before I bounce.. yaknowdig?"
4.5 of 5

7. Big D (ft. Akinyele, Heather Hunter and Kia)
Strange track, with a ultra-explicit chorus.
Growing on me though.
The porn-star Heather Hunter on the chorus, lol
3.75 of 5

8. Live My Life (ft. Ja Rule)
Not feeling it.
Irv Gotti produced, and supposed to be the 1st single, but wasn't good enough to be the first single.
Not particular dope at all.
3 of 5

9. Full Mode
Now we talking.
Dope Neptunes-banger, a lil remniscient of "Superthug" or "Oh No"
Mad catchy beat, could be a dope single.
Nore gets a little repetive on the lyrics though.
Dope chorus, and Pharell even does a verse, before Nore takes his mic
5 of 5

10. Love Ya Moms (ft. Capone, Musaliny-N-Maze, Gold [Oro] & The Complexions)
I usually hate the "dedicated" songs on albums, but this is well executed. Chorus is dope, beat is nice for such a track.
Some thoughtful lyrics too, but some guest-spots too much.
4.5 of 5

11. Head Bussa
Another head banga from Neptunes, with a hype beat.
Nore kills it.
5 of 5

12. Wanna Be Like Him (ft. Mashonda)
Swizz Beatz drops surprisingly a more grimey darker beat than usual.
Dope chorus, and Nore comes dope.
4.75 of 5

13. Black Clouds (ft. The Complexions)
A more laidback peaceful track from Nore here.
Nore comes much doper on tracks like this, than his radio-friendly joints.
"Fuck a courtroom, I'm good on the streets with a Tech"
The chorus is dope to, some r'n'b shit.
4.5 of 5

14. Banned From Another Club (ft. Final Chapter)
If you heard the prequel, you probably gonna dig this.
Funny shit.
4.75 of 5

15. Now I Pray (ft. Musaliny)
Average chorus, and just above average beat.
Nore comes dope though.
Musaliny still in Nore's shadow.
3.75 of 5

16. Consider This (ft. Kelis)
Neptunes-beat, and it's pretty aight, but nuthin special though.
The chorus is dope, with Kelis and Nore co-operating pretty good.
Pretty funky and catchy, but it's been done better.
4.25 of 5

17. Nahmeanuheard Remix (ft. Capone, Cam'Ron, Fat Joe and Cassidy)
Dope amped beat from Swizz Beatz and better than the original.
Dope cameos makes this one a banger.
Fat Joe comes OK, and newcomer Cassidy makes sure you know his name at least a few times.
Camron comes dope, and if you axe me Capone is underrated.
5 of 5

18. Holla Back Slime
See track 1

19. The Life Of A Gangsta (ft. Chinky) (*Bonus Track*)
A solo Capone track, and if you axe me Capone is underrated.
Capones might be unconsistant, but he got a dope flow.
If you can stand his voice, he's pretty dope.
He's also a little off-beat, but difference is good in hiphop.
Dope anthemish joint, beat is ace. Capone still gotta live in the shadow of Nore though.
4.5 of 5

NORE IS THE BEST!

what is the name of the 5 mic track where nore finishes the song with:

'i carry mack mack mack,
all dressed in black black black,
i keep it gutter gutter gutter,
on a neptunes track track track.'

^^ you see, if another rapper did that they would get hated on, but not nore, he is just too cool.

grimey makes me top record speeds in my car lol.

The track you talkin 'bout is nr. 16 - Consider this ft. Kelis
Not the dopest Neptunes track on there, so if you haven't heard the others your in for a surprise.

U give high-ass ratings Jome, you always give stuff this high of ratings, or are Styles and Noreaga's album better than everyone else this year.

Yea, together with Eminem, this is the 2 dopest album I've heard this year.
And usually I dont want to review albums I don't like.

If a album suck, I would just say: "Nellys new album suck" and then I won't review it nor listen to it.
