i could........but ultimately coming from me, wouldn't mean nearly as much as if you answered whatever it is yourself...

Don't seek from others,
Or you'll be estranged from yourself.
Now go on alone-

Everywhere I encounter It.
It now is me, I now am not It.
One must understand in this way
To merge with being as is.

I still don't get the ending of the movie. Actually, I never thought about it because I wasn't in the mood.

What's so cool about this? I get that the fire is the exact opposite of cold and dark, so normatively speaking one should still spread good (fire) even though one is around bad (dark, cold). Doesn't fascinate me. Now in context of the movie, people are somehow infatuated with the idea of their actions/their life having genuine meaning, their dead forefathers waiting for them somewhere and shit, and how afterlife is so much nicer than this fuckwit ass world. And this is what the movie plays with... yet I entirely disagree, to me the idea of an afterlife, well, it is absolutely absurd, and after I'm dead my actions won't affect me whatsoever. This, of course, is a dangerous mind-set to spread because so many people are fucked up and only considering appropriate behaviour cause they expect to get rewarded in the afterlife, which is terrible. I'm not like that.
Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

I liked the ending and I think in a way, in a certain perspective life is kinda alot like that; there is alot of hell and darkness in the world and we can struggle (or not) for that light, to keep it aglow.....to be a bearer of that....

I dunno dude, I was just feelin' it.

'.....make a fire somewhere out there in all that dark and all that cold.....'

As for the afterlife in some ways I reackon death is definately the end and its something definately final for the body and mind, but somehow I do think the soul or spirit, something in us is much more than just organic matter, something else that may continue onto something......or not.

the mystery as dark as the night

The ending was very fitting for the film and lets face it, its a film that portrays our world in a setting not so far from the reality where life is cheap and personal hells are created from moment to moment, domestically and internationally, so word;

'....make a fire somewhere out there in all that dark and all that cold...'
