Obama's thoughts on energy showcase his principles...
« on: August 04, 2008, 03:22:40 PM »
From a speech yesterday in Lansing, Michigan:

I also believe that in the short-term, as we transition to renewable energy, we can and should increase our domestic production of oil and natural gas. But we should start by telling the oil companies to drill on the 68 million acres they currently have access to but haven’t touched. If they don't use it, they should lose it.
I believe we should immediately give every working family in America a $1,000 energy rebate, and we should pay for it with part of the record profits that the oil companies are making right now.

Telling oil companies where to drill and what to do with their property? Threatening to take their property if they don't intend to use it soon? Is that how the right to property will be treated under Obama: from each according to his ability, ...? Next thing you know, you cannot own a second home without having to give it up for the homeless - hey, they need it! So if working families need some extra money for their energy bills, hey, why not rob some oil companies?

The principles behind such policies are so thoroughly rotten, that one should seriously wonder whether Obama really is "the lesser of the two evils." America beware.

Working families make up for more votes than big corporate owners.
Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

I love how Obama arbitrarily decides that a private company made too much money, so he is going to hit them with extra taxes. Is that even legal? Who decides that a certain company has made too much money? That sounds like something a socialist country like Venezuela would do. Not to mention that the oil companies will just pass on the cost to its customers. Obama clearly does not understand economics.

Someone needs to tell Obama that the United States is a capitalist country that believes in free markets, including the right to make money. I told you, Obama is going to single handedly destroy the American economy.

The principles behind such policies are so thoroughly rotten, that one should seriously wonder whether Obama really is "the lesser of the two evils." America beware.

So oil companies should be able to buy large areas of land, and just sit on them? The evil in America is the oil companies, they have land, they know where the oil is, but refuse to drill it, because increasing the supply will lower the price. Oil companies want the price as high as possible, and buying land just to not drill on it, is cheating you. Obama's point is perfectly valid.

Listen to McCain and Obama talk about anything. What Obama says always makes a lot more sense then what McCain proposes, especially on energy. McCain says "Drill now!!" What the fuck will that do? Nothing. Drilling offshore won't do shit to lower the price of oil. Not to mention the fact oil won't be produced from those wells for over 5 years. Obama policies make more sense because he's the more educated individual. McCain has borderline psychosis. The things he says are so stupid, it boggles the mind. Your analogy between the housing and homeless and energy companies is also pretty stupid and very illogical. But I guess if you support McCain, you must be illogical, and suffer from some sort of mental illness.

Obama's energy policy makes a lot more sense then McCains on every level. Simple minded individuals simply think, oh the price of oil is high, so lets drill more!! Drilling for more oil is the last thing America should do, seeing that other modern nations like Brazil, France, and the rest of Europe are practically energy independent.

America is a nation of complainers. Oh Oh the price of gas is so high. We're suffering!! Pathetic people. America is just now paying the gas prices the rest of the worlds been paying for the last decade. Maybe if people weren't so wasteful, things wouldn't cost so much. How are any Americans suffering? You bought a house you couldn't afford. You bought a bunch of shit you didn't need with your credit card. Stupid people all around America, spending the money they don't have, on things they hardly need. It's pathetic, America needs to man up.

You're pretty stupid aren't you. Do you understand economics? Record price of oil.. record profits. Makes sense right? So why wouldn't the cost go down? I bet you think it's okay just to drill more oil, burn more oil, and let the companies make billions while the price skyrockets. Must not disrupt the free market!! Wouldn't want to tax the super rich. That would be too liberal, you stupid fuck.

including the right to make money

So if the Dairy industry decided one day to charge 10$ for a gallon of milk, you would just say, "Hey it's their right to make money?" The brainwashing never ends with you right wing Americans does it?

Co-sign.  On this rare occasion I agree with CWalker.  Obama's energy policy is socialist, and America was not supposed to be a socialist country, but rather a free-market capatalist country.

Now CWalker, since I agreed with you, you atleast owe it to me to explain how a McCain presidency would be less socialist... Because government spending under Republicans is higher than that of Democrats, not even counting the great increase in military budget, George W. Bush administation has grately increased domestic spending, government programs, and federal regulations.

So you say you believe in the free market that is very hypocritical when Federal Spending always increases more under Republicans.  (if you were real and true to what you say you'd support Ron Paul)

CLINTON WAS MUCH LESS SOCIALIST THAN BUSH HAS BEEN.

Why not? They've been robbing us for years and nobody has done shit. I seriously doubt Obama is trying to set a precedent to abolish property rights. It seems more to me that he is using enegy money to restructure the energy industry. Sounds good to me. These insane energy prices are making everything else more and more expensive. Our money is as weak as I can ever remember right now.
