Some background on RBX. His real name is Eric (I can't remember his
last name), and he used to live in Las Vegas. I knew him while I was
in school at UNLV (I think he might have even played football for UNLV).

I didn't know him from UNLV, I knew from the hip-hop scene (I was a DJ)
At this time, Eric used to hang out with this guy Lord Create (real
name = Dave Fogg. Dave could/can produce his ASS off!!!!! He has this
kind of funky-psychedelic style that is only possible from being into
everything that is alternative.)

Anyway, they had a group called BMS-13 (Brother Madness Staff, 13=
thirteenth letter of alphabet, M for marijuana). They recorded some
tracks that were F&&KEN INCREDIBLE!!!!!! I had never heard anything
like it before. At this time, Eric had just changed styles, from being
just a normal hard rapper (I can't remember his old name) to being the 'enlightened rapper,' Reality Born. What was so funny about this ****
is that BMS-13's first song was called "Sounds of Reality" and in it
Eric was spelling the word 'knowledge and giving each letter some meaning.
Anywyay, he mispelled the word and they had to re-record the song!

SIDE NOTE: My best friend (Warren Peace) and I were ecstatic
about BMS-13 because we were going to be the dancers of the group.
(This was way back when rap groups had dancers, remember???)

ANOTHER SIDE NOTE: At this time, Eric and Dave were real tight with
Microphone Mike (who changed his name to Micah-9 and joined Freestyle Fellowship). This 'tightness' dissolved after Freestyle Fellowship.

After this, Dave came up with the idea to have a new group called
"Psychedelic Soul Prophets." Warren was going to be the DJ, I was going
to make the beats (I was known for my love of rhythms and beats),
Dave would lay the rest of the tracks, and Eric and this other guy,
Cochise, would be the rappers.

Needless to say nothing much happened with PSP...... 

Then, Eric and Dave then moved down to L.A.and hooked up with Dre.
I can't remember the connection, but it was somebody's cousin or something.
Anyway, Dave moved back to Vegas, where he is now, and Eric stayed down
there with Snoop and Dre. From what I understand, RBX's album was supposed
to come out after Snoop's as the 'icing on the cake' for Death Row. Dre
said that he had never heard someone with as strong a voice as Eric.

I guess when he started hanging with the Death Row crowd, "Reality Born"
didn't cut it, so he took the initials R.B. and added an X => RBX.

You'll notice some references to all of the above in his lyrics.
Some of the references include "Pepcon" (a company in Vegas that had some
explosion on their site), you'll hear about "Create" or "Creator", also
you'll hear "Reality" or "Reality Born."

If his album is out, I haven't heard it. About two years ago Warren sent me
a tape of Eric's tracks for an album. They were PHAT as hell, and they
were produced by Lord Create and Gregski Royal. Just before this, Eric had
had a falling out with the Death Row crowd and so the first song on the
tape was a Dre diss. Then, a few months later Warren told me that they
had made up. I don't know the status now.

Another thing that I learned from this is that when albums come out,
very often the raps on the album are old as hell! Because when a rapper
writes down something PHAT, he uses it and uses it (if appropriate) until
it is recorded on something. For example, RBX's whole "drop bombs like Hiroshima" and "hillside strangler" lyrics are from way back before Dre's
album. As a matter of fact, it was on some BMS-13 ****!!! He must have
written that **** a good 3-4 years before it was used on the album!!!!

If the album is out, has anyone heard it?

MY REVIEW:

Good to see that X keeps it active (must say in particular that the R Kelly surprised me): Everyday, Automatic and the STOP Movement tracks are great. Otherwise, I am sad to say that this project didnt do alot for me. Alotof old and/or uninteresting tracks (Dr. Dre track not taht good if u aske me).
