I find the problem with albums leaking is that everyone's done with discussing it by the time the actual retail version comes out... but anyway, I picked this up this week and have given it a couple of listens.

My initial view, and this may change given that I've listened to it so little, is that it's a massive disappointment and by far the worst of Game's three albums. A few of the beats are very good and Game can still spit a hot rhyme here and there, but my overall impression is that the album is unfocused, like Game's unsure of who or what he's trying to target so just tries to hit every possible sound/demographic at once. Some of it I find literally unlistenable - the song with Ne-Yo is easily one of the most horrible attempts to make a commercial rap song I've heard in years. I think if you're generally a fan of commercial rap music, this album is probably OK. But I just found it boring. Maybe that'll change. Maybe not.

I don't think the track with Ne-Yo was an attempt at a commercial song, I think it's a little too obscene lyrically for radio play.

You're right - commercila is the wrong word. But it's a 'pop' song nonetheless - something for the ladies.

Congrats, lol.

For some reason, I'm not feeling the "Cali Sunshine" hook.  Bilal just isn't doing it for me.  The "Ya Heard" beat is too busy but still good.  "Let Us Live"  is a classic.  Chrisette Michele has a great voice and does the hook nicely (any more info on her?).  "Never can Say Goodbye" is exactly what I expected it to be, dope.  "Angel", another classic song with a great hook.  Overall, he did a great job on it.  Classic?  Only time will tell but the more I listen to it, the more I'm liking it and getting the feeling that it will be.

ha, thanks!

Same; I am a BIG Bilal fan but he didn't bring it on this one. Ya Heard beat is indeed 2 busy for me. I LOVE Let Us Live. Damn, u ain't know Chrisette? She was on Jay'z "Lost Ones" and Nas' Hip-Hop Is Dead album. She's signed to Def Jam and put out an album last year that kind of went under the radar due to lack of promo.

Game's lyrically insane on this album. I get lost in his song when im high... Money is my favorite track.

Kanye told me that Jesus walks in 04
But I grew up around impalas and drug lords
Welcome to los angeles palm trees and drug stores
All we know is rocks and presidents like mount rushmore
Fuck the police they hop out and bust doors
I ain't goin back to jail nigga that's what I flush for
My money or my glock. Who do I trust more?
I don't know it's prolly the one that I touch more
Guess It's the green cuz paper motivate niggas
And my rolex races cuz it hate niggas
I used to only sell eighths
Like that laker nigga
and now I'm movin twenty fours like I play at the staples center
you might miss the game so nigga don't blink
my phantom stand out like frank lucas mink
so go ahead and think
like frank lucas think
somebody'll find your brains on the fuckin kitchen sink

"Letter to the King" is straight fire... for me it's the best Game song ever. His third verse is so awesome. He gotta do a collabo album with Nas 'cause Mr. Jones always brings the best of him.

I think the album is sick. Right now it feels it might be Game's best actually, but I'll see how it stands against the test of time.

It's much easier for me to list the disappointing songs than the good ones, mostly 'cause I only don't like one: Ya Heard. That just sounds like a mess to me.

Otherwise - solid. Sure not every track is equally good, but I got no complaints. There's a couple expcielly SICK ones though - Money, Let Us Live (dizzam!) and my absolute favourite - Angel. That track is just excellent.
