Will we ever get another true classic?
« on: August 30, 2008, 07:36:38 AM »
With the way the music industry has changed over the years, I don't think we'll ever get to hear another true classic in negro music. What was the last album that had a big impact on the direction music producers went, that sold like crazy, that everybody loved, that had no fillers and that people still talk about? I think it might have been "2001" from Dr. Dre. It's almost 10 years ago that that album came out.

Nowadays new songs leak out so early and most radio singles are poppy and garbage. I can't forget about the numerous wacky rappers that to be rich, but really signed a slave deal. That already takes everything away from a true classic. I don't think we'll ever get to hear another classic album.

Yer, we''l never get a true classic ever again, but if you talk modern day, thats about as good as its gonna get from now on. Although that Termanlology album does have the potential.

But Termanology's album won't go over the counter more than 300 times.

Yer, sales wise maybe, but on music terms, it does have potential.

Theres definately been extremely dope albums and imo Lupe Fiascos Food and Liquor is just as high-a-standard as some 90s classics. Both Clipse albums are creative and well executed and Hell Hath No Fury in my books was an outstanding album. In conclusion i think Food and Liquor & Hell Hath No Fury prove rappers are still able to make classics these days.

We won't get another true classic and that's 99.99 % sure imo... We can't even get solid albums anymore ... 2008 is by far the weakest year in hip hop history and it'll get worse and worse ...

2008 aint the weakest year 07 and 06 were. All we got was a few bullshit albums and no sales. Lil Wayne just sold a million copies which is big for today and Nas, Game and Cube put out dope albums.
