when they start off making what you would call 'classic material' and after a while wack albums start being made then, it becomes a cycle and before ya know it..... kaboom it's over !!!!!!!

i didnt mean to post songs when a rapper has fallen off.

Im asking what traits does the artist show. Feel free to use examples.

Classic Material's post almost made sense............

it did make sense. my best example is when beanie sigel dropped the solution and said it was just that and it wasn't.

People here are straight up lyin.

Basically they make 1 bad song and when they ain't on TV and the radio everyday, a few people starts sayin "____ fell off" over and over again and then before you know it the rest of the people start sayin the same thing. Then even if that artist makes a dope ass song people'll still say "man he fell off".

It's a bandwagon thing. People still haven't realized that Hip-Hop is all about the bandwagon.

The definition of falling off must only be judged by albums.

Usually there is a significant markdown in the quality of lyrics on an album, which would put the artist into the "they suck" category, compared to what they were before, which would be the "good rapper" category.

Markdowns can also be measured by: flow, beat selection, subject matter, hungriness of spit

Nope. You wanna hear a rapper bangin' his same style for 10, 20 years and nothing changed? Don't tell me lies, styler's obligation is based on some progress. You ain't makin' progress, you ain't shit these days. Lil' Wayne decided to use autotune, so go get it. It's his progress, he innovates himself. Or you wanna hear ''Go DJ'' 1000 times?

Obviously the reason why alot of ppl think Lil Wayne sucks now...  So yes??

I think progression should be in lyrics.   If u keep the same hungry flow and good beats, u'll be fine.    Think about Jay-Z, only recently didd he begin to get stale, but he has a very strong discography.

i 100% agree with you on the bandwagon thing. but rappers also start making bad songs. but they can bounce back, but the bandwagon effect wont allow that...cuz to bandwagoners, "once you go wack, you cant go back." (no matter what).
