Last night in Chicago The Roots announced that they will be retiring from touring EFFECTIVE March 2009. The move is being made to accommodate their new Night Gig as the house band for Jimmy Fallon when he replaces Conan O'Brien as the host of Late Night in March of 2009. Conan will be moved to the Tonight Show.

if you ever wanna see them live, go asap

This is wack if it's true.  I mean it's great if they are truly gonna be the house band for Jimmy Fallon, that will be dope as fuck.  But not at the expense of them not touring anymore.  NBC had to have thrown a shit load of money at ?uestlove and Black Thought.

Either way, I don't believe they are retired from touring.  They may be on hiatus, but if they don't tour for a while people will start feenin to see them, and that = big $$$.  Every great band quits touring for a while and their "comeback tours" are lucrative as fuck.

I hope they continue putting out new music which I think they will.

It's not as bad as it's being reported. ?uestlove's clarified that they'll still tour, but obviously not as much.
