Lontime fan here.... 6.5/ 7 out of 10 tbh...... This is the best I could ever give this album... the first half is magic and then it all comes apart leaving me bored by the overblown solos and intro/outtros..... ya know Im a major fan of old G n R/ Slash.... Slash never made a solo or flew off on the lead gat for no reason... maybe if they made a few eof those latter songs a bit simpler than it would have been amzing like you say... as you pointed out its opinion.... I rate Kings Of Leon as a strong 7/ 7.5 and being the album that beats chinese democracy in this genre this year PEACE

I haven't heard the new Kings of Leon, but the previous album with Knocked Up was amazing.

You talk about Slash making solos like he called the shots. He was about as in charge of where the solos went as Eddie Van Halen was on Beat It. Is this album better than Appetite? Not even close, but it wouldn't be all that much different with or without Slash, and it's a lot better than the last two VR albums.

I like Slash as much as anyone else but this fantasy that he was somehow the creative muse behind the guitar work of GnR is false. He's an amazing musician, but GnR was always Axl's vision and Axl was always better at creating music than all the other members combined. And I say that based solely on the opinion that CD is better than VR, better than Snakepit, and better than Ju Ju.

The feeling that GnR had in the 80's was fun, but still carried pain and emotion.   That was why we loved them.  There was a certain sound that they made that was almost perfect..

Nowadays the genre has changed so much, you get some really un-focused bands trying to do some other shit, which while may be good, isn't the definition of proper Rock n Roll.. 

While Chinese Democracy isn't the greatest album of all time, and the band line-up isn't the same one we grew to love, it still kicks the shit out of alot of these other bands that are around right now..

What are y'all opinions of Limp Bizkit?   Post only if you've heard the albums, cuz their singles were really sum bullshit.   They have a new album coming out with Wes Borland back again..

3 dollar bill and significant other were great albums, still pop them in here and there. great to listen to, reminds me of a certain era in my life,

this album was "detox", it was announced but nobody ever believed that it would be released one day.
im love g´n´r´s old shit.i will check the album but i heard its (very) disapointment for the fans..dunno maybe the guy who did review didnt like it..

I really feel Better.  Very close to classic GnR..  Check the second solo by Buckethead (The last one) on There Was a Time.  Best solo on the album..

I didn't wanna say this, but Guns n Roses is a sound, and they have maintained it on this album, which leads me to believe Axl Rose was the creative force behind Guns n Roses with or without the previous band members..  There are alot of bands who get new members, and if the main artist(s) wanna keep on doing their thing with new ppl and they still make that same sound, why should they change the name?

I just listened to St. Anger again recently. Then I took a shit later that night. While sitting on the toilet I realized that the noises of the farts and shit plopping into the water sounded better than that album.

Thats true I mean he did make Slash and the others sign the name away he better get his moneys worth... the sound has already reflected the change theres no need for people who dont live in caves to be told its not G N R we already know
