They are. I was watching some show about this on discovery (could have been another channel) where they were saying how a full grown tiger can typically kill a full grown lion. The lions only advantage is that they usually hunt in packs.

again, that's not true...sometimes the lion wins, sometimes the tiger wins. it all depends on the circumstances.
