UK Best of 08 thread
« on: December 09, 2008, 04:20:33 AM »
I thought since the Uk has made even more moves in the rap game this year its only fair to have a thead where we can discuss the year and the best releases of the year (Singles, Albums, Mixtapes)

Some of my fave albums of the year are

Adulthood OST
Sway - Signiture Lp
Blak Twang - Speaking From Xperiance
JMC - Safecracker
Kano - 140 Grime Street
Low Deep - Unsung
Professor Green - Green EP
Wiley - Grime Wave
Wiley - See Clear Now
Tinchy Stryder - Cloud 9 EP
Street Politiks - Purple Mondays
Jaja - Street Boy

Albums which i was hyped for but didn't live up were

Roll Deep - Return Of The Big Sound
Giggs - Walk In Da Park
Ironik - No Point In Wasting Tears

What are your fave Uk albums this year and what do you think of the grind of artists like Chipmunk, Tinchy Stryder & N-Dubz

Yeh, the video is class, don't think anyone was expectin something like that, tbh the whole album suprised me as he said it would be pop grime so i was expecting the worst but since it leaked the other day its been on constant play

Wheres my brother is a crazy tune. Wiley dropped heat on that.

Personally for me, Sways new album was fire. I think it was on the level of his last album and with even better production. The UKs been dropping a lot of heat this year. Chipmunk, Tinchy, Wretch 32, Wiley, Sway, Kano etc. Kanos song with Chase and status is banging too. I think we need a thread full of links to the best songs from this year.

is that professor green ep any good ?

Sways album had some great moments but it was also a bit all over the place.

These are mostly classed as UK grime/rap whatever u wanna call it and pop grime is just an expression of watered down commercial grime music
