couple of questions about Dre's what the difference...
« on: December 20, 2008, 09:32:07 AM »
my bad if threads already been made on this.. but

who is the Phish dude on the hook? what happened to him? etc

secondly is Dre dissing Ren at the end of his vers when he says..

I got these fake-ass niggaz I first drew with
Claimin that they non-violent, talkin like they *voice sample*
Spit venom in interviews, speakin on reunions
Move units, then talk shit and we can do this
Until then - I ain't even speakin your name
Just keep my name outta yo' mouth and we can keep it the same
Nigga, it ain't that I'm too big to listen to the rumors
It's just that I'm too damn big to pay attention to 'em

-Yes,there have been a couple of threads about it.
-Yes,he diss Ren.... reason; Ren said some shit about Dre in Rap Pages or The Source.

You can find the Ren interview here;
The ultimate N.W.A family interview thread *magazine scans, reviews etc.*  MC Ren

You can also find Dre's interview in that thread  ;)

The original version of "What's The Difference" features Hittman instead of Xzibit and Dre is sayin "Claimin that they non-violent, talkin like they Ruthless".
I'll hook up the original version if somebody needs it.

The track was recorded before they got cool again.... the What's The Difference OG leaked a year or so before the album dropped.

Word...

...if you remember that old Dreday site we used to go to, they hooked me up with 3 songs nearly a year before the album came out.

I had an OG version of "What's the Difference" with Em and Dre which has a trimmed down version of the beat and a little bit different outro...and I also had the OG version of "What's the Difference" with Hittman.  I loved the songs at the time and bumped them nearly everyday for a year straight, every morning when I would wake up for my junior year of highschool.  Then the album came out and I realized those were the two hottest joints on the album.  I think Xzibit did add some energy to the song, so the updated version was a little hotter.

Another song they had up at the website was "Kim" which would end up on the Marshall Mathers LP nearly a year later.

yep, that was the site.... and some snoopdoggy something.com site  :P www.hiphopsite.com leaked some shit as well.
You don't happen to have Snoop´s version of (RBX´s) "Moms are crying"? I got a bad copy on tape, that I downloaded from one of those sites.

Xzibit killed that beat.... BTW

It was snoopsdogghouse.com, that was another great site back in the day I used to visit daily.  And it was kind of during the period where Snoop had lost himself for a little while, and was working with No Limit trying to find his way again.  I felt with the TopDogg album and then the first Eastsidaz record he really got himself back together.  But I remember when they were dissing him a little bit on that site for his verse on Badazz's lead single off his first solo album, they said how can Snoop rhyme Down with Down???  "Them dogg pound gangsta's be puttin it down... so get your ass up for you get on down... dogg pound gangstaz puttin it down"! ... it was still a dope song though, I still supported Snoop in his off years of 97 and 98.

Damn... I forgot how dope Hittman's verse was.  Some of it I don't think I even got when I was 17 listening to it, like where he says "clandestine, like J. Edgar Hoovers intestines"... (J. Edgar Hoover was the first director of the FBI in 1924)

I still think Xzibit's verse works better, mainly because he comes with the same energy that Eminem came with.  Dre's verse was large, and Hittman's verse would have been to overshadowed by Em's verse.
