Steely Dan - "Black Cow" it worked for Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz on "Deja Vu"
(Very easy to loop as well)

Hey Nineteen from Steely Dan could be dope too.  They were partying like rappers back then.  Who else had a chorus of "the cuervo gold, the fine columbian, makes tonight a wonderful thing."  I've always though a lot of Steely Dan songs could be made into nice jams today.  they had heavy funky bass lines and jazzy precusion.  Off the hook

I'm going to praise my own obscurity and hate on black art with this one

Southside Johnny - Got To be a Better Way Home

love the song and the vocals but I never felt it was recorded with the proper energy on the backtrack and could use a remake

another one by Johnny with Ronnie Spector singing with him in a duet

You Mean So Much To Me Baby

(with talk of Alicia Keys and John Legend in another thread I'd love to seem the remake this one)

If any Sopranos fans out there want to know was Sylvio was up to before he was giving Tony advice here are som nice tunes that could be remade from Van Zandt

Until the Good is Gone

Out of the Darkness

I Am a Patriot

And here's one that should not be remade but I like it and want to post it

its not from the 70's or 80's but theres this RBC bank commercial that gets played here in Canada which has a sick little piano riff in it that i wish a producer would chop and make something dope out of it.

I'll try looking for the video cuz the piano melody is definately dope.

That would be sweet with a nice beat in the background.

I've got to say other than RUN DMC my favorite band growing up that I always thought made some beats that could be rapped to was the Pet Shop Boys.  I think is would be funky as hell to hear some dope lines over their beats/melodies.

Disco I have nothing. The only disco songs I know are the really famous ones.

As for hard sounding beat; what do you mean specifically? Give me a few examples of songs from the 70s and shit that have that hard beat and I'll see if I have similar stuff.
