I thought we really missed out on something when they parted ways. They would've cooked up something great together, I'm sure. The tracks that they put out and what little leaks I've heard only speak in favor of this.

I can't tell because back then I didn't have world wibe web yet  :P

As far as I know there are 4 tracks from that era:

- Addictive (original version)
- Addicitve remix
- After You Die
- The Wacther 2
- R.A.K.I.M.

I'm espeically curious what was the general opinion on Addictive. I liked that joint and when I heard the remix I thought to myself that it should've been the jump off single for "Oh My God". Since he was on major, a crossover record was to be expected and Addictive did just that without being corny. Of course "After You Die" is an amazing track imo, from production to subject matter. Didn't really like the 8 Mile joint mostly because of the wierd ass beat from Denuan Porter. I also remember reading that Dre turned down several Premo tracks right ?

Shit, I completley forgot about The Watcher 2, another classic track and that 50's "Heat" was originally a Rakim beat but didn't know what direction to take ?

there's also ''Dream Come True'' ... ever heard it? i love that beat ... never heard the version with rakims voice on though... btw could sum1 up the RAKIM joint?

All those tracks you mentioned were tracks I really loved and still listen to to this day.  I have no doubt a Rakim Aftermath album would have been a dream come true.   Sad that they scrapped it, cause it's exactly what was needed to save hip-hop.  But now it's dead, so fuck it.

add Welcome 2 The Hood to your list, it's also produced by Dre, so I guess it's from his Aftermath era, does somebody believe in 7th Seal as I do?

and Busta used After You Die as Legend of the Fall Offs on The Big Bang

Rap is not real, I don't care what they told you,
Fake people say fake things in their vocalbooth
- Soul Position - Mic Control

I make it hard to read me, graffiti flow - Rakim - Word On The Streets

there were a lot of original elements in, especially the remix...but then maybe it's just because im a bit more oriental than you lol...

i'm speaking of the formula of the song.
that doesn't mean that the production can't be original  ;)

the remix is a bit more listenable for me, but it's still not the type of song i'd like to listen to

I'm not feeling that Addictive song at all, even though the R had a dope verse on remix.

Watcher 2 is awesome.

It's kind of weird in a way how Rakim is considered maybe the G.O.A.T but really did not do much (since the Eric B. days)  before signing with Dre and has not done much since leaving.....Considering his work rate for putting out songs, I don't think you can blame Dre on this one..Rakim might be the greatest but his work rate is totally different from Tupac's who was legendary for putting out music...I just wonder how dude is even eating.

Didn't Rakim leave with the album? Why hasn't he released it?

He does alot of live shows...  Alot..  Don't forget all the albums he's sold.  Rakim was not reckless with his money...
