Yay, new Dylan album april 28th
« on: March 19, 2009, 07:25:23 PM »

Together Through Life is Bob Dylan's upcoming 33rd studio album, with release set for April 28, 2009.[1]

The album came as an unexpected surprise to Dylan fans who heard about it through an article in Rolling Stone, with no official press release until March 16, 2009. Dylan produced the record under the pseudonym of Jack Frost, which he used for his previous two studio albums, "Love and Theft" and Modern Times. The album is rumored to contain "struggling love songs" and have little similarity to Modern Times[2]

In a conversation with music journalist Bill Flanagan, published on Bob Dylan's official website, Dylan revealed that the new record was heavily influenced by the sound of Chess Records and Sun Records. He said that the genesis of the record was when French film director Olivier Dahan asked him to supply a song for his new road movie, My Own Love Song, and "then the record sort of took its own direction".[3]

It was rumored that the backing musicians were Dylan's regular touring band, plus David Hidalgo of Los Lobos [4] and members of Tom Petty's band The Heartbreakers (Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench). [5]

[edit] Track listing

   1. "Beyond Here Lies Nothin'"
   2. "Life is Hard"
   3. "My Wife's Home Town"
   4. "If You Ever Go To Houston"
   5. "Forgetful Heart"
   6. "Jolene"
   7. "This Dream of You"
   8. "Shake Shake Mama"
   9. "I Feel A Change Comin' On"
  10. "It's All Good"

sounds dope, i didnt listen to modern times too many times over but loved what i heard esp the single, which had an incredible music video, in other news i cant believe my chemical romance covered desolation row, and as blasphemous as i think that is, and as much as i hate it, i gotta give em props for doing it in their style, instead of an acoustic try to mock dylan, too bad i think their style is complete garbage

I'm not all the way familiar with that but Modern Times was cool with "Spirit On The Water" and the double disc he dropped last year (Vol 8) had some dopeness as well.  Any new Dylan is interesting to me.  As long as the commercials die down  :-[

Love the cover. Very interested in the music. More interested in the old style production that it seems to hint at. I want it sound like the old Chess and Sun records, not have the same style with modern productions, but I can live with either. Also hope it's not like the last one where it starts "Thunder On The Mountain" and then slows way down for the rest of the album.

P.S. Not the biggest MCR fan but that Black Parade album was pretty good. I recommend listening to it.

Why is it that so many people here remember a half assed reality show b-level star so easily but have no familiarity with one of the most influential lyricists of all time?

The early rappers hada lot of admiration and respect for Dylan and his talent. Kurtis Blow had him an album in the 80s once.

I bet most people on here don't know Kurtis Blow either.

Well being on a HIP-HOP forum and you see a thread with the name Dylan in it it's easy to assume you're talking about a hip-hop artist
