Mouse Virus...HELP!
« on: February 21, 2002, 10:38:43 AM »
Me and my mate where messin about on the net and we stumbled across this "free porn program" we downloaded it and it didnt work so we deleted it straight away.  Then when I go on the PC later on the mouse is moving up and down on its own.  The stupid thing must of give the mouse a virus.  We have done everything to get rid of it but nothing seems to work.  we have re-installed windows, re-insalled the mouse, downloaded a virus program (Mcaffey) and run scanDisk a number of times but still the mouse is going up and down on its own.  N e 1 got n e bright ideas on what should we do next?  its so annoying we can hardly click on anything.  Plz help!

Peace

Me & my mate?
Sounds suspicous, but anyway..

Try to clean the inside of the mouse, just turn off the lock on the back, get the "ball" out, and clean the "rollers" inside of the mouse.
If that doesn't work..
Try a new mouse, maybe the mouse is fucked up.

You could let McAfee auto update to learn about the latest virus's - you may have a virus written after the virus killer was released.

Just reinstalling windows "over the top" will not neccesarily remove the virus, one sure way is use a boot floppy that is known as clean..... turn off the pc for a minute then boot using the clean floppy do a FORMAT C:\  /mbr or D or E depnding on your hard drive layout for all the drive letters, and then turning pc off for a minute as a reboot.  Then set your CD as the boot drive to install your OS or follow the instructions that came with it.

BEWARE the format will delete everything on the hard drive so I can understand if you aren't in a hurry to do that ;)

Holla if ya havin trouble and we'll try and sort it ...

lol, u prolly infected with a trojan, download :
Trojan Remover [link]

and scan your comp ...

Seems like you might have some spyware on your comp as well, download Adware [link]

also reinstall and update your virus definations...

If it still stays, and no one else can help, format your comp and then install windows
