"Fortunate son" and "Born on a Bayou" stay in rotation for me, but for the most part I never could get in to them. Too folky for my taste.

No disrespect, and I know that's probably the wrong describing word, but that's how they come off  to me. I'm a huge soul and blues fan though, I just tend to drift more towards, slower, twangier, less rock influenced material.

Great band of course.  I remember in college there was a band called Cross Canadian Ragweed.  Everybody always referred to them as CCR.  It really annoyed me.

So what music genre are they really considered?  I 1st heard of them in the mid 80's.  My songs were
born on the bayou
bad moon rising
Travelin band my no.1
proud mary
lookin out my back door
down on the corner
up around the bend
