The success of The Documentary opened doors for the West Coast. That's the truth. None of these "New West" rappers would have major record deals without the success of that album. The credit shouldn't go to Game though because Dre's co-sign and his alignment with G-Unit at their peak also helped.

I agree that The Game has been the biggest thing out of the West in awhile but in terms of saving the West or putting it back on the map, nobody has done that. The West is in the same situation that it has always been. He deserves his props for holding down the West like he does but to say that anyone saved the West Coast is a ridiculous statement because there hasn't been a drastic change. There were temporary attempts to capitalize off the buzz created by his success but what concrete changes came about? Since Game's album dropped, Dre still hasn't put out Detox, Death Row went out of business, the other big West Coast act on G-Unit (Spider Loc) hasn't released an album yet, Crooked I's album is still unreleased, Eastwood's album is still unreleased. Just about every up and coming artist on the West has yet to put out their projects. Even Game himself hasn't found the right deal for Black Wall Street. More over so, there is a very clear division in the West between the veterans and the young guys who are waiting to get on.

Now, I ain't saying that Game is responsible for all of this but still to say he saved the West Coast or put back on the map is a bit of a bold statement given the current condition of West Coast rap. I'd say his success was a very good look and went a long way but that was winning a battle. The war is still going on. You have to give him his props in that department.
