Nas says new album to be STRAIGHT HIPHOP??!!
« on: October 23, 2002, 05:22:46 PM »
THis is kinda weird considering he is now riding with the INC, but if it is true than all i can say is Nas has some big balls.  I was expecting some Irv Gotti/Ja RUle/Ashanti guests for his first single, but instead he chooses MAde U Look(not a great song, although not at all commercial and very late 80's early 90's)....

they got a article on Nas at MTV, some interesting things he says:
"It's the fourth quarter and everybody has an R&B record, and they say they're hip-hop," he protested. "They just lying, sellin' out hip-hop music with R&B records. You're on your eighth album? Where's your balls at, man? Make a rap record. What, is you scared? Make some rap music. Hip-hop is not about radio, it's not about the TV. These n---as is too [MC] Hammer. This sh-- is real music from real life."

Also from the article:
According to Nas' spokesperson, God's Son is still being recorded with "Made You Look" soundscape provider Salaam Remi, Large Professor and the Alchemist contributing most of the beats. No lyrical guests have made it on the LP as of yet

Hmmm. looks like it is going to be pretty hard to compare Jigga And Nas this time, as Jay is going more commercial than ever while NAs may be going more straight hiphop along the lines of Lost Tapes (the new songs) and stuff like You're the Man.  Salaam, Extra P and ALchemist, this could be dope shit (even though that first single is still kinda boring for me).....

Well, most of us are hoping that it's like The Lost Tapes (which is "straight hip-hop", no bullshit) but Nas has been known to talk shit.

This album should be intresting anyways.

Should be dope because he's got a Muslim producing for him.  Salaam Remi.  I don't want to see any Irv Gotti production on there.  Nas is best with old school producers like Primo, Large Proffesor, etc.

how can nas say that ^ when he rides wit ja rule?

nas is a fuckin hypocrite and should leave the preaching alone
"One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. "Which road do I take?" she asked. "Where do you want to go?" was his response. "I don't know," Alice answered. "Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."

I can agree with that, totally. He should just let the music speak for itself if he feels so strongly about this. But anyways, has he even signed with Murder INC, as far as I know he's only affiliated with them in the sense that he's working with Irv on this new record and he's linking up with Ja and Ashanti on 1 or 2 tracks. I hope that tracklisting is fake too, looks pretty shitty, plus "So Many Tears" is supposed to feature AZ, aswell as Ashanti.

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.

This sounds good. "Made You Look" is a tight ass song. I don't know why people are hatin'. The lyrics aren't what we expect from Nas and the "Braveheart" chant is corny but the breakbeat is ill.

Irv Gotti can make good hip hop records if he wants to. Just listen to his shit pre-Rule 3:36. It's just he hasn't made a hard ass track since 2000.
