i noticed most of the lists are rappers that nobody really likes, or makes that "sellout" kind of music.

but, just because you don't like there music they're dumb?

every last one of you is a MOTHER FUCKING liar if some record executive walked up to you, waved a couple millies in your face & said just make a song like this, *insert Soulja Boy song*.

there lyrics might be the worst in all of music history, but this is the West Coast Section & i would say almost everybody named in this thread have sold more records than anybody on the West (minus Game).

As said before, these people who make "sell out" music as you put it can't do anything else and are not talented - that's the problem!!!! It has nothing to do with tastes... There are other rappers who also do this, but can rap very well behind closed doors.. Example - Cassidy - Someone I'm not at all keen on - he made some pretty commercialised garbage, but he still dropped stuff for the streets, battled in freestyles etc. and showed some decent skills, so that comment about personal taste isn't valid. Soulja Boy & Flo Rida are empty shells of an image. I've yet to see them show any kind of skills that show me they deserve to have a glimmer of mainstream success

There can be a fine line between the 2 though.. Think about it.. Re-read my post. If a rapper can't spit ryhmes beyond the ability of an elementary level then you would assume he'd be pretty dumb, even if he hasn't shown the questionable Hip Hop/Rap audience he has skills through methods such as underground cuts, mixtapes, and net video rap battles, then that tells me right away they can't rap for shyt, and have to moan and groan their way through a track because they're too "dumb" to write anything

The target audences of those acts don't really care about lyrics, it just has to sound good. If they would have complicated lyrics they would alienate those target audiences because they mostly just want something to dance to.
Maybe they can write really well, but it wouldn't be a good career choice.

They aren't in the game for the music, they are in it for the money.

And Jay-z Is a crappy lyricist now but he still is the biggest earner in hiphop year after year, even when he does't drop an album.
So really the music is just a small percentage of there income.

it's obvious Soulja Boy can't rap, but he makes songs that mainstream fans enjoy & songs that people want as their ringtones.

he sat around & made that catchy "Crank That" song with the dance & all, showed it to somebody & was lucky enough for it to catch on.

around than 1-2% of the World can rap or try to, less than 1% are concidered great/good; does that mean the other 99% of the World is dumb because they can't rap like Nas?

I agree with majority of your post, and think 99% are in it for the money, but there are a good number of examples, who although their mainstream hits were weak lyrically, they put out a few underground joints to let people know they got the talent. From 2000-2005 they done both - over-commercialized retail albums, but had a few mixtape bangers and other rarities, which showed they had some intelligence to spit some decent tracks here and there on the rare occasion which was the complete opposite of their retail albums, only recently in the last couple of years has their been these rappers who can't even put out mixtape tracks or anything anywhere with at least 1 hot verse to show that versatility, even with the aid of ghostwriters, they're just 100% empty and lack talent, which in turn can be classed as dumbness if that makes sense.

They should have a social responsibility to show the streets they're justified in their position that enables them to milk a genre, and profit from weak terrible music. Others did before, in the last few years they haven't. Not their fault though at the end of the day
