My New Strategy In College: I Don't Look At Grades
« on: February 11, 2002, 04:21:13 PM »
I tell my teacher I don't want to see my scores for any of my tests.  In my Criminology class, today we got our first test back of the semester, I didn't look at it.  I'm going to try to do this as much as possible.  So school is about learning for me and not about grades.  We'll see if it works.  peace.

IQ tests mean even less than grades when it comes to intelligence. I mean, I've got an IQ of 173 and the equivalent of a 94% average at a very tough school (I'm on scholarship, so I've got to do well) but it doesn't necessarily mean I'm smart. All it means is that...
a) I know how to write an IQ test. That's about all they tell you.
b) I'm good at managing my workload and keeping organised.
c) I have some competence when it comes to intelligence.

Academics and intelligence are only a small part of how successful you are going to be later in life. I think the most valuable test anyone can take is an EQ (Emotional Quotient) test. If administered correctly it can tell someone how good they are with other people. It's measured on the same scale as an IQ test but it asks you questions about how you'd deal with certain situations. You are asked to answer honestly about what you would most likely do from among a list of options. If you don't answer honestly then you're only cheating yourself.

Yo, that's the truth.  I skipped the third grade (went from 2nd to 4th) but that don't mean i'm smart.

Heheyaeh. I used that strategy in my last year of college, and it worked out fine. You always understand yourself what grades you should improve in, and not some shitty teacher telling you you could do better in Religion whatever.

It's kinda like a weight-problem, if  U go look at the weight 3 times a day, you'll gain weight for sure.
And if you're all obsessed with grades, you'll never calm down enough to study good.

It's always been my motto:
Grades.... Fuck 'em

I'm smart enough to get a good job anyway, and that's what count.

What my theory always was was to just do my best, I'd fail some tests, get A's on more, I'm pretty laid back, so grades never really upset me.  I'd get a 20 on a test, and just laugh about it, so I kinda agree with infinite's theory not to worry about the grades, but for me It wasn't a problem to see them, I just didn't care if they were good or not, LOL.  Remeber, C is average, so anything above C is better than most people anyways, LOL.

word,  school is complete bull shit.  In which tha smarter kids fall through tha cracks of tha system.  Like me,  i do jack shit in school an have a 75-80 average.  My class rank was 225 outta 335.  I always know what we are learner even though i do jack shit.  If i applied myself in school i could of been in tha top 50.  But unlike every1 else,  when they would teach senseless bull shit i would close my mind to it.  Tha best compliment i ever got was in 8th grade.  After class my english teacher said i was one of tha smartest student's he had ever had but i havnt done a damn in school for tha past 8 years
