Brian is only saying this b/c Dre produced the beat.  This is a dope far from one of Nas's greatest verses let alone one of the greatest of all time.  IMO Nas and Dre together except for a couple of tracks have always been extremely underwhelming.

Nas & Primo >>>> Nas & Dre
fuck Premier, his shit is dusty.
he needs to update his sound

Primo doesn't sound dated.  Did you hear MVP by Ludachris?

One of my favorite Nas verses,

Quote
I designed it , rhymed it - flow classic
You askin', who am I signed with?
The real deal is 'Ill Will', stays comit
Why is drama when other artists pay homage
You hate any rapper I do a song with
What's wrong with Nas helpin' crews get stronger
You selfish, wanting me to yourself
But Prophets need help too, y'all see Nas get insulted
I ride for the real shit, High as the Lock's get melted
Twelve Years, givin' you nuttin' but big moments
How can 'Murda Inc' not wanna fuck wit
The top hustler - R.O.C. crusha
Nas a legend 'fore 'BIG & Pac' left us
Bubbled wit 'Dr. Drizze', You heard it on Makaveli
Saying, "Nas is ring leader, brings Ether, brings heater"
Your dream teamer scream, "He's the Supreme Teacher"
Similar to anybody you know
Oh, I created, cremated, body that flow
Anyone you think is fuckin' wit me
Better be Vets - better be 'Ra', better be 'Kool G' or 'KRS'
Better be 'LL' or 'Slick' or them
Neva put me in the 'Top Ten' BITCH!
It's disrespect to the life that burnt the verses
Or nigga writes who comes first
It's the 'Ice Cube' 'MC Shan' them type dudes
So B.E.T.'s list was wrong, don't get me wrong
I did chill in the throne alone so long
This is my my will/quote]
Cool breeze; I'm hopping out of new Beams
My outfit ran me a few G's but none of that will matter if you leave
I used to be an Adam with two Eves and shawtys automatically do me
Excuse me, all that happened before you doesn't matter
I'm a vision of the future climbing the success ladder
Recline, in the mean time, twenty three shine, diamond bling blind as I rewind
- Banks

i'll take a Dre production anyday of the week.

Premo is awesome, don't get me wrong, but like Dre-Day said, his sound is old.

if he didn't have a legacy & was a newcomer, most of his beats today would be "good" at best.

so speaking "Hip Hop Passes", Premo has been holding on to his for a while now.

Neither Dre nor Primo are in their prime, but they both still can bring it.

I'd take this over any of the recent Dre productions

Grey Hairs is one of my favorite albums in recent years.

great beat & more on that album; but i take it you weren't a fan of Eminem's Relapse.

my personal taste makes me more of a "banger" type of listener than traditional scratching & Premo-type beats.

Premo can drop sick ones like this, but i agree with Dre-Day in that he can update his sound a little; or at least experiment with it once.

"Who Got Gunz" by Premo is defo my shit, but I'll take Dre any day. Premo's had the same sound since forever, its dope, but he needs to switch it up every now and then. I was surprised he worked with Christina Aguilera actually...

On the topic, yup the verse is ill, the first line is on some next shit!

I wasn't a fan of Relapse, but it was mostly because of Em. The production was solid. I would also like to point out that Relapse was Dre's saving grace. A lot of what he's put out has been not up to par.

Why does Primo need to change his sound? All I ever hear on here about Dre's production is how he needs to go back to G-Funk.

not change, just update.

& not permanent either, just experiment with a different sound.

Dre is light years ahead of Premier :wavey:
Premier is one of the reasons why Rage' soloalbum disappointed.

I don't agree Premier is to blame for Rage's album being lackluster. To me Premo is to Necessary Roughness what Quik is to All Eyez On Me (or even Dre to Dogg Food for that matter) his mixing made the sound of the album consistent. The Daz beats on that record were mostly top notch shit, and I really think Premier is the reason.
