Jay says in A Star Is Born; "Drake is next, lets see what he does with it."

WHY WOULD HE SUPPORT DRAKE OVER HIS OWN YOUNG PRODIGY J. COLE? ???

Cole killed the track though. 8)

Cos Drake is literally 1st in line to be the next big thing, J Cole gonna be after Drake...

Star is Born is some sick shit though, Jay killed it, same with Cole!

i guess, but i mean with Cole on the track & all i would think he would say something positive about Cole lol.

Give it a week, and Dubcc will totally switch on the album, like they did on Relapse..

I'm digging nearly all of it, even the Timbaland tracks sounds better in proper quality, some of the tracks are growers... only downfalls:

* Swizz Beats track, plain weird.. catchy in a way, but should have been left off the album.
* Pharrell track, don't quite like it, but it's not that bad either.. expected the Pharrell/Swizz tracks to be the 2 worst tracks, and I was right.
* Young Jeezy ruined the start of a pretty good track, don't think I will ever like a Jeezy or Wayne verse.

Add "Jockin Jay-Z", "History feat. Tony Williams", and "Brooklyn Go Hard feat. Santogold" as bonus tracks, and you got a banging album, like usual from Jay.

You ain't lied about that Jome. The word classic will be thrown around in a week or 2 lol.

no doubt, spot on Jome.

also, was diggin' the album. 8)

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only feeling it.  I agree with some of the critics that it has a more pop, techno influence on the beats but I think it's dope.  I never understand why people want him to spit another reasonable doubt.  I figure it's a lose lose for Jay because if he does spit about the drug game (american gangster) people say he's not being true but when he switches it up and spits what he wants to present as his lifestyle, people hate.  Hov can't do right to some folks.

I agree that Pharrel song didn't feel right but I disagree about the Swizz track though I think his vocals shouldn't have been included.

I agree the Jeezy track hindered the flow of the album.  You didn't dig Jeezy's verse on Amazing?  That Ye track got me into Jeezy.

The track with Jeezy sounded like it shoulda been on Jeezy's next album, and the Pharell track shouldn't of been there at all, same with the Swizzy one. Apart from that I was feeling the album, shit was pretty dope actually after reading all the bullshit reviews on here lol.

Get out of here.

Pray
American Dreamin'
No Hook
Roc Boyz
Sweet

I don't feel the need to comment on American Gangster again.   Hell of dope album and I stated my peace so!

Back to Blueprint 3, far better than Blueprint 2.  Different style than Blueprint 1 and way too soon to tell how they compare.

Where is the best song on the album , Say Hello To The Bad Guy ?

That's up to you to decide.

Personally, from American Gangster my favorite track is Sweet.  I actually prefer certain tracks from the Marvin Gaye mash-up more ... Sweet happens to be one of them but I blast the og too.    Here's the version from the mash-up, http://sharebee.com/cfd0b9e3

Quote

It's so corrupt
Soak it up
It's a lesson, every fuck up
One day you're up, the next day you're down
As long as you stay the same
It'll come back around

Hov, all right! all right!
It might not be what you cal picture perfect
but it's my life
the life

Damn, I love that song.

Thoughts:

Jay's flow ain't shit anymore.
Lyrically he's cool on some tracks, generic as fuck on some others.
Kanye didn't bring his A-game, but his B-Game is good enough for me.
Timbo didn't bring his A-game, and it hurts the album. Off That is straight with me though, hook is dope.
Pharell's track (and hook) was good - he probably deserved a second beat on this.
Alicia Keys sounds AMAZING on Empire State of Mind... why is Nas not on this?
Swizz track was some garbage. Speaking of Swizz, this track () > anything on the album
It's... just alright. Not classic, not close. But not bad. Listenable minus three songs (ugh, thank you...)
AWH!

WHERE'S NAS ON Empire State of Mind?! >:(
It was really only the track I had high hopes to... Anyway, I'm on my second listen - not very impressed.

I actually think the Pharrell joint is the best one on the album (the hook is fly too: I'm so ambitious I might hit 2 sisters...lol). Jay and Neptunes been making some dope joints lately; this one and Blue Magic & I Know of American Gangster.

Anyways my thoughts:

  • for me this sounds like a more polished and improved version of Kingdom Come
  • his biggest problem remains his often "I'm rich" slow flow
  • the second biggest problem are several corny/out of place/unnecessary hooks:Run This Town, On To The Next One, Venus Vs. Mars, Reminder
  • Jeezy track sounds like something for a Jeezy project
  • I like the fact that he addressed a lot of current issues: Dame, Game, Jaz-O, Def Jam presidency, his age, being called a Camel

Like Jome said this album is probably a grower (or not we'll see). Right now I'm thinking it's definitely better than American Gangster (boring and nobody wants to hear him rap about drugs again) and Kingdom Come (sounded like a failed, dated experiment compared to this one)

Only song ill keep is the one with J Cole on it... thats fire... everything else is below average ... Jigga shoulda sent some of these beats to Jigga ten years ago and hungry!
