I love living, I love my friends, my family, hanging out, doing fun things. Well, according to some Christians I had a discussion with on Facebook, I'm a Sinner and I'm prob. going to go to hell. Why you may ask, well they quoted this bible quote to me:

Quote
1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world-the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does-c...omes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever

I had a whole on debate on facebook with some crazed religious dude, I don't know if you need to log in to see it but here is the link: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/erikmorse85?v=feed&story_fbid=126956602956&ref=mf

and here is a link to the crazy dude's facebook, he's those religious guys at your college yelling at you that your a sinner, think wesboro baptist church - http://www.facebook.com/SteventheBerean

I personally believe that if god created the earth, why not love it? why not love what he made? why not be happy with everything around you?
I didn't know it was such a big problem, lol.

Not all, but them evangelists people though. Of course.

Quote
15Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

They evidently can't read right.

Them fuckin' evangelists people. They crazy. And Born Again Christians too. That's right.

Christians have a lot of hated and insecurities about themselves, that's why. They are closed-minded for the most part and if you do not follow the lifestyle they see as fit and appropriate then you are obviously an evil person to them. Yet they tell you to love your neighbor. Just another contradiction among them.

Another reason is because many of the "reformed' Christians are alcoholics and drug addicts that do not know they're limit. Then once they finally decide they'd rather stop participating in their vices, or as they say "find Jesus", they think anything other than going to church and praising God is evil. Basically, they replaced one addiction (drugs/alcohol) with another (church). And what better way to denounce your past life of awesomeness than by calling it evil and hating on it until you either die to return to it.

Just because some people can handle their lifestyles without going off the deep end does not make it evil, but telling a die-hard Christian that is pointless because they are void of logic.

The world's a beautiful place, it's the unfortunate people and happenings in it that bring it down. Unfortunately......unnnnnnnnfortunately.

That Bible verse has a deeper meaning than your limited, abbreviated intellect can comprehend.  I will try to explain but I seriously doubt you will get it.

Let me put the verse in context for you.  See, the Creator is perfect.  The world is perfect.  The Universe is perfect.  The solar system is perfect and the planets move in a precise orbit, and if the sun were an inch closer to the Earth we would burn to death and if it were an inch farther away we would freeze to death.  So there are NO MISTAKES in the creation.  It is not possible that the Solar Sytem could move about in such grace and perfection unless this world too, was also an example of the Universes and the perfection that exists in all it contains.

With that background, and that context, you can now understand the verse.  Just as the Universe, Galaxy and Solar System and space is perfection, everything in Earth is also an example of God's perfection.  So it is only because of our flawed intellect that we can view something as imperfect.  Once you have grasped that meaning you have reached the level that Muslims call Kun Fee Yakun (Be and it is) Qur'an, the Buddhists call Nirvana, and the Christians call being "saved".  The verse is trying to encourage the believer to take his eyes off of the petty highs and lows that exist within his own limited desires, and instead find eternal freedom and grace in the perfection that is the Creator.

...now I'm not a Christian, I don't read the Bible... but if your truly interested in understanding that verse then you must look more deeply into it than you are.

That verse is not talking about the same kind of love for the world that you're speaking of and I seriously doubt the person who quoted the scripture actually knew what it meant either. Don't trip.....live life and love it! Can't nobody tell you if you're going to hell or not because they're not God but they won't quote the scripture that says judging is a sin tho.

I can explain it you if you'd like but the verse has a deeper meaning to it.

The world creates sex icons, look at Hollywood, look at the porn industry. There's the lust of his eyes. Man created that shit. And the only thang that comes outta it is lust.

Boasting of what he has, pride of life...

Evangelists men. Crazy. Twisted a simplistic meaning for an argument.

In my opinion I think its pretty self explanatory. I don't know.

You're supposed to love life, yourself and others anyways. It's in the f'in commandments, let alone in verses thru-out. Tell son that.

That Pacino scene is just too good. I love it when he says "I'm a humanist...maybe even the last humanist".
