As far as Cudi's lyrical ability, I don't really care that much about that as long as you can create actual songs and that they have substance. Take Slaughterhouse for example; miles ahead of Cudi lyrically but couldn't make a proper song to save their life.

that sums it up perfectly, but I wouldn't say they are miles ahead lyrically, but only on a flow standpoint.  They can rap nice but they are rapping about nothing

That's not true.  Off the top of my head:

Sound Off: introduction to slaughterhouse
Lyrical murders: statement of the album - "it's about the lyrics stupid"
Cuckoo: each rap about characteristics or actions that make them cuckoo
Pray (It's A Shame):  mini-bio and struggles
Cut You Loose: current state of hip-hop
Rain Drops: personal sorrows

They all rap about something.   The execution isn't the best and it should be improved but they're all speaking on something.  It's not like Slaughterhouse denied it's about the bars.  That's what brought them together and that's what pushed them to create the album.

My outfit ran me a few G's but none of that will matter if you leave
I used to be an Adam with two Eves and shawtys automatically do me
Excuse me, all that happened before you doesn't matter
I'm a vision of the future climbing the success ladder
Recline, in the mean time, twenty three shine, diamond bling blind as I rewind

Here's CuDi explaining each track off the album.   I fear he might be developing that Ye complex.  He bigs up his own work and talks about who listens to it as if it's legendary.  Man, I hate when artist do that.   I like humble CuDi.   Still pretty dope to hear his insight.

Tracks 1-8

Tracks 9-15

obviously they rap about something, when every song is the same redundant gun clapping, collar popping nonsense we hear all the fucking time then it seems like they have nothing to say

That's not the case though.  All of'em rap about their reality.  None of them are bullshiting.  This isn't ja rule.  Maybe you can't feel what they're saying but they're saying something.

Great album IMO. I will go buy it now

I think people need to realize that some albums take a few listens to get into. it took a few for me but its a really greatly produced and put together album. Its what i would call alternative rap though. He isnt the world greatest rapper but its a great album none the less. Dudes got the combo he can sing, he can rap, he had good subject matter as well.

I liked BP3 but theres other albums better than BP3, this is one of the them, OB4CL2 is one of the others.
