Makaveli, All Eyez On Me, Me Against The World, Doggystyle & The Chronic are arguably 5 of the 10 best albums in hip hop history.

Makaveli never ever my friend...i never understood what all the hype was about only cuz it was Pacs last real album....its only average at best to me...me againste the world is his best no doubt about that

Word.

I voted for the East simply because I haven't heard that many West Coast albums from that era.

dare iz a darkside, muddy waters, do or die, tical, return to the 36 chambers, 4,5,6, mecca and the soul brother, the sun rises in the east, ironman, don't sweat the technique, stakes is high, midnight marauders, the coming, dead serious, hold it down, business never personal,  livin' proof, reasonable doubt, return of the boom bap, the infamous, enta da stage, 19 naughty III, bacdafucup, all we got iz us, word...life...

That was enough to win it for me.

East coast easily for me, although both coasts obviously released loads of great music there are a lot more east coast albums that are the highest calibre.

I might be leaning towards the east coast a little, but it's really a tough call.

and one should def note that besides all the great death row albums, all 4 too short albums from that period, Pac albums, classic gangsta rap shit and all that, the west also had the tha liks, ras kass first album, pharcyde, the whole hiero camp (IMO their first solos (casual's album, souls of mischief, extra prolific (snupe), del...) had top notch albums

rap-a-lot dropped hit after hit after albums from 92-96...that fell on alot of deaf ears

2 of Americaz Most isn't an album from the west lol...

During that actual timeframs, I would have said the West.  But in retrospect, for me it's the East.  I mean you didn't even mention Jeru "The Sun Rises in the East", Boot Camp, Naughty By Nature, Redman, shit I could keep goin...Yeah you could throw in a little bit here and there from the West on top of what you did, but I think the East as a whole put out more consistent music.

97-99  sucked . the music of that era started hurting hip hop. 89 to 96 was the best

What abouth the south? :P

that question won't be tolerated in this thread lol.

You actually DID have alot of dope ass albums coming from the south around that period as well. Scarface, Rap-A-Lot, Outkast, Goodie Mob, Big Mike, and Master P was starting to make noise as well towards 96.
you forgot outkast.
