DPG on "Change the game" remix

Why does Jay Z say, "In memory or Notorious P.I.G." at the beginning of the remix on the Death Row 2002 DPG release, but then gives him props throughout his music?

I DID listen.  I've listened to this shit since it came out and it still sounds like he says P.I.G. to me
