As of today my top ten list is looking like,

1. Reks More Grey Hairs
2. Slaughterhouse Self-titled
3. P.O.S Never Better
4. Kid Cudi End of the Day: Man on the Moon
5. Ebony Bones Bone of My Bones
6. 50 Cent Before I Self Destruct
7. Joe Budden Escape Route
8. Charles Hamilton This Perfect Life
9. Stat Quo The Great Depression

i highly respect the Reks mention; completely forgot about him, shit was ridiculously tight.

i thought Grey Hairs was album of the year last year; but i thought More Grey Hairs was a step down from his last album.

question. i agree, that Escape Route is better than Padded Room, but i can't say by much; i mean similar music, it doesn't make the top 10? :P

Why does everyone rate Padded Room sooooo high? Personally Escape Route/ Slaughterhouse/ Halfway House >>> Padded Room, PR had too many wack hooks and beats it sounded more like a mixtape than a album

I agree with this, but I still thought it had some great tracks... if the mastering were to be re-done professionally I would cop it

it had some classic joints on it; i can tell what you mean though.

i think Halfway House had a few filler-ish tracks on it; where Padded Room was more of an album in my mind.

some beats were weak, but some of the beats on Slaughterhouse were similar sounding; they even sampled one of Budden's beats. :P

but i thought Escape Route was better too; but not by much.

It makes sense that you think More Grey Hairs was a step down from Grey Hairs.  The album is the leftover tracks from the recording sessions for Grey Hairs.  I hadn't heard of kid until last year but damn man has he been on constant spin since I discovered his music.

Padded Room?  I like it.  It deserves to make my honourable mention list.  It has a bunch of solid cuts (if i gotta go, in my sleep, exxess, future, pray for me)  For some reason I don't bump it too much.   You see that's the conundrum with the honorable mention list.  The albums I listed could easily be argued as better than the ones I have on my top ten.  Just for some reason I don't find myself going back to them as much as I do the ones on my top ten.

I don't want to make this too Budden centric but I high expectations for The Great Escape.

Also, my top ten aside from the top 2 easily change positions.   Some days Budden slides up to 3, some days 50 is last.  They all get constant play though so...which is what matters for my top ten.  My top ten aren't technically the best albums but they stand for something.  Clearly, Slaughterhouse albums suffers from weak beats but the fact the album exists and is that dope means that much more to me.   You can feel the energy when you hear em spit, when they drop off freestyles, when they go on the radio, when they do live shows.  It's so much love for hip-hop and the album reflects that too.

^i'm hoping that it's his best work.

i agree that i don't bump Padded Room much anymore; once i got Great Escape, i basically came to a complete stop with that album; but maybe i'll go give it another spin.

Grey Hairs was a great album; if you like Premo beats, it's for you.

Go peep All In One (5 Mics).  This is what Game's Never Can Say Goodbye should have been.

Escape route is my album of the year.I just always go back to it and listen to it.I can listen to it start to finish without skipping a track and I feel emotionally invested in the album.

Padded room was a huge dissapointment to me.I only liked about half the songs,it felt like two albums were recorded and merged into one.It didnt have a feel of an album, just a random assortment of songs thrown together. And I didnt even like half the songs.

Wales album Ive really been enjoying but Ill give it some more time and let it sink in.

Biggest dissapointment of the year has to be kid cudi. That album was a pile of mediocrity gift wrapped as something original.Which in no way was.It should have just been called 808s and heartbreaks part two starring kid cudi.
