1. Slaughterhouse - Move On
2. Joe Budden - Pray For Me
3. Rakim - Holy Are You
4. Kurupt/Quik - Hey Playa
5. Jay-Z - Empire State of Mind (not the best-best, but it's my fucking anthem! 8))

This had to be done but it's too fuckin hard to choose just 5. Top 5 productions would be nice too. Dre could get a 5/5 easily.

1. Eminem - Stay Wide Awake   Probably the best flow and rhyming structure of the decade, what else to say.
2. Raekwon - Surgical Gloves/New Wu   First one is so fuckin raw it makes you wanna kill somebody, second is just crazy with the sample and all and 3 of the best Wu members spittin. Can't decide now.
3. Jay-Z - D.O.A    Fuckin dope beat and Jay is great too.
4. Bishop Lamont - Hallelujah (ft. Xzibit)     The best Bishop song in my opinion, better than anything we've heard from Reformation, dope X hook and great lyrics.
5. Slaughterhouse - Microphone     Could be beat of the year, all members kill it. Also the best freestyle of the year from Em on it.

If I do it tomorrow, I will choose some other songs probably.

mostly based on how much I bumped each track on my iPod, off top:

1. Kid Cudi - Sky Might Fall - hands down for me, my most played song of the year
2. The Jacka - What Happened To The World - this is fuckin' music right here, 99% of Outbound I bet haven't heard this one, and for those who haven't peep it
3. Raekwon - House of Flying Daggers (Feat. Inspectah Deck, Ghostface, Method Man, & GZA) - had this on repeat for a minute and still bump it
4. Young Buck - Gotta Love It - best track he dropped this year easily
5. The Game - Bang Along - just dope, one of Game's best tracks that leaked this year

honorable mentions:

Busta Rhymes - Watch How U Talk (Feat. Uncle Murda, Raekwon, & The Game)
Ghostface Killah - Baby
B.G. - Back To The Money (Feat. Magnolia Chop)
Red Cafe - General (Feat. Maino), Hottest In The Hood (and all the remixes)
DJ Quik & Kurupt - Do You Know
UGK - The Pimp & The Bun (Feat. Ron Isley)
Eminem - Beautiful
Slaughterhouse - Onslaught
Rakim - Holy Are You
Twista - Fire (Feat. Lil Boosie) (gets hate for the autotune and because the rest of the album wasn't great, dope smoking song though)
Willy Northpole - Hood Dreamer (Feat. B.o.B) (technically came out in '08 but the video and album dropped in '09)
Gucci Mane - Wasted (Feat. Plies)
OJ Da Juiceman - Make The Trap Say Aye (OJ is garbage and I don't like him but I can't front this was my shit)

2009 has really been a dope year for music as long as you weren't listening to the radio or watching BET/MTV

if the lyrical content matched the insanity of the flow, i'd agree.

the hook was awesome, but some of the shit he was sayin' in the verses were just like, "wtf"?

i still bump that shit though. 8)

Kid Cudi - Pursuit of Happiness

Only song I'm definitely sure of so far.  Need to give both Raekwon and Clipse some more spins to say which tracks I like best. Nipsey Hussle came through with a hot mixtape (plus that song he did with Snoop was pure heat) and I'm sure Joell Ortiz deserves at least one spot in my top 5. The new Alicia Keys album has some some stand out tracks (Un-thinkable, Wait Till I See You Smile) and I prefer Empire State of Mind II to the original.  Furthermore Fashawns album was one of my favourites this year but picking a track out would be tough (samsonite man comes to mind).

There's music from other generes as well. Rude Kids instrumental Spartan Gang was epic (especially the way the drum speed switches up) and Joker produced some amazing tracks although I'm not sure which year they're from.

Possibles so far:

Jadakiss - Can't Stop Me
Fashawn ft. Blu - Samsonite Man
Fashawn - When She Calls
Nipsey Hussle ft. Snoop Dogg - Gangstas Life
Drake - Fear
MOP - Foundation
Alicia Keys - Unthinkable
Alicia Keys - Empire State of Mind II
Rude Kid - Spartan Gang
Tinchy Stryder - Rollin'
Eminem - Underground
Tempa T - Next Hype

I insist on the flow and rhyming structure. The lyrics could be discussed though. To me they are great considering the theme of a song witch is just serial killing. He describes crazy single murder details with the most insane lyrics anyone could ever have thought AND he does that with the flow and the structure I mentioned. I think no rapper could have pulled this better than him. Plus it has a dope Dre beat with some crazy Elizondo guitars on it.

Wow, this is a tough one. Been a good year for hip hop.

Marco Polo & Torae - Double Barrel
Raekwon - House Of Flying Daggers
Slaughterhouse - Microphone
Alchemist - Smile
Blaq Poet - Hate
Clipse - Freedom
Defari - Show Some Liv
Rakim - Holy Are You
Royce Da 5'9" - Something 2 Ride 2
Skyzoo - Under Pressure

Had to make it 10, but this list is probably wrong  :D  I didn't want to name 2 tracks from 1 artist.

In no particular order ... not saying these are the best, but this is what i listened to the most this year

Defari -Show some love
Clipse -Kinda like a big deal
Game -Bang Along
Nipsey/Snoop - Gangsta's life
Eminem - Stay wide awake

make it a TOP TEN and we throw in

Drake, Kanye, Wayne, Eminem - Forever
Snoop Dogg - THAT'S THA HOMIE
Slaughterhouse - sound off
Slaughterhouse - Not tonight
Busta Rhymes - Watch How You Talk

And in there, i also throw in Joell ortiz freestyles over The wait is ova, Crime wave, Sleeping with a broken heart, I go off (FIRE) and whatever else he dropped in the past few months. Also, back in march, He dropped that Biggie tribute with Khalil. Brilliant.

What do you guys think ?

edit : crap ! I just realized i forgot to include Quik/Kurupt joints in there ! ... damn this is hard lol

I guess we can say 2009 produced some good for Hip Hop.

Cool breeze; I'm hopping out of new Beams
My outfit ran me a few G's but none of that will matter if you leave
I used to be an Adam with two Eves and shawtys automatically do me
Excuse me, all that happened before you doesn't matter
I'm a vision of the future climbing the success ladder
Recline, in the mean time, twenty three shine, diamond bling blind as I rewind
