i think rolling stone tries to please too many people with their lists, appeal to different masses so as not to ignore any 'group', and shallow, even without numbers, theres a lot of albums that should be on there, and some on there that shouldnt be

Yeah I know. I'm just saying numbering makes it even worse. The list itself will be fast fading joke in a few years and forgotten completely by the next list.

1. Jay-Z - Blueprint
2. Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
3. Kanye West - The College Dropout
4. Jay-Z - The Black Album
5. Outkast - Stankonia
6. Lil' Wayne - Tha Carter III
7. Outkast - Speakerboxxx/The Love Below
8. 50 Cent - Get Rich or Die Tryin'
9. Kanye West - Late Registration
10. Kanye West - Graduation.

basically the top 10 rap albums according to Rolling Stone.

Kanye has three of the top ten & i don't know if i can fully disagree with that; those albums were the bomb.

The College Dropout - a near classic.
Late Registration - a different sound from Kanye, with better beats & more diversity, in my opinion; not as good though.
Graduation - a complete album that i can bump from start to finish & if it had more replay value, i would put it just a small notch below The College Dropout.

swap Speakerboxxx/The Love Below with The Eminem Show & Tha Carter III with something, switch the order around & that may very well look like my top 10 for the last decade.

i mean, counting mostly mainstream albums of course, i hope none of you thought someone without radio exposure was cracking this list lol.

Nas, yeah; he deserves a spot on the list.

as for the other three? na, not that surprised, just a little for Common.

I just realized that according to RS every one of Kanye's albums are better than Stillmatic. While the album hasn't aged well (neither has Blueprint btw), Kanye sucks!

That's actually a pretty okay list for Rolling Stone standards.

you rap fans shouldnt be TOO surprised, but realistically, tell me what albums would you like to see on there?

That list is bullshit.  Jay-Z is all marketing, his shit is all plain, he's never done anything groundbreaking in his life.

Atleast Eminem was in the top 10 (should of been top 5 though).  I also thought Stankonia was a good choice, so was Get Rich Or Die Trying and Eminem Show (should of been top 5 though).  Some albums that should of made the list...

Talib Kweli- Train of Thought  (Classic 10 out of 10)
Nas- Stillmatic  (Classic 10 out of 10)
Nas- God's Son   (Classic 10 out of 10)
Dead Prez- Let's Get Free  (Classic 10 out of 10)
8 Mile Soundtrack (Eminem's two greatest songs on there, "Lose Yourself", "8 Mile Rd")
Xzibit- Restless LP  (Solid 9 out of 10)
Snoop- The Last Meal  (Solid 8 out of 10)

I agree except for Restless and Last Meal. Restless was a huge let down for me as an album, back then, and now and Last Meal was a nice Snoop album and refreshing after a lot of shit that came out by him but I don't think either should represent a best of the decade list. God Son can stay or go. I liked it a lot at first but it hasn't aged well for me, but Made You Look alone might get it in there.

id take lost tapes over gods son and stillmatic anyday

and for the record, i never thought this list was good in any way, but i do like a lot of albums on there, but too much indie shit for my taste, ill take white stripes and black keys discographies over 60% off that list, maybe 70

I'm mainly an indie rock fan, but the indie music that is there is pretty wack.  Much better stuff out there, but it seems like RS has done this to all genres.
