Has piracy really hurt hip hop numbers that bad?

YES!

it sucks.

also, this album isnt that good. i will give 1 sold record for his 2nd week and im not happy at all. liked the first 3 songs (tracks 2,3,4) then it sucks besides #10 secrets with kokane.

hip hop is simply wack nowadays. all these recently best albums of the year are nowhere near early 2000's era. i'm not even talking about 90's.

Its true. Who really wants to buy a Snoop album like MIW? Its far from inventive and has very few standout tracks. The Clipse were under shipped but aren't a huge act now. Timbos was directed at the pop market but nobody seemed to realise it was out/didn't care.

If hip-hop wants to sell its gotta be more innovative. 'European Jay' sold platinum plus and people like Wayne, Drake and Kanye all can put up good numbers cause they push the boundaries of mainstream rap a bit. I'm not saying everyone has to to sound part retarded like Wayne or sing in autotune like Kanye but look at how Jay and TI pushed units by doing corny songs with Rihanna or in TIs case singing.

If this trend continues made my hopes will be answered and black music will be forced to move away from boring RnB and weak hip hop and into something more interesting (and hopefully more funky)!
