i look forward to the day when people focus on quality more than sales

if that means hiphop needs to "die" and rappers can get back to doing what they do best without having to try and make music for the mainstream, so be it

That sounds nice and all, but actually you have it backwards.

If you go back to 1998 when the economy was up, and illegal downloading wasn't a major factor; the market was flooded with great artists and albums.  The money was out there, and money stimulates competition.  Eminem didn't become a genius on his own, his style wasn't created in a vacuum.  Eminem became great partly because at the time he was coming up, competition was intense, the stakes were high, and this stimulated great creativity in the music business.

There's no way today's environment could produce a 2pac or an Eminem.  Hip-hop is dead, better hold on to your old cd's as much as you can, cause that shit is gonna be like gold.

if hip hop doesn't sale that means that people who used to buy it don't care anymore, right ?
Because of the quality steadily decreasing...

No. Come on, if an artist used to sell like 600k then starts selling 8k, that usually tells you something.
