Here are my favorite hip-hop related movies...

1. Jason's Lyric- Kind of like an early 90's hip-hop perspective on Romeo and Juliet.  My favorite movie.

2. Style Wars-  A spectacular documentary that was on PBS back in 1982, the year I was born.  It really documents an era in hip-hop history that I am so sad that I missed.  It's primary focus is on graffiti but it touches upon all the 4 elements of hip-hop culture, and documents at it when the culture was at it's most vibrant.  I think that rap artists were at their best in the mid 90's, but the culture as a whole was at it's best during this era.  MUST SEE

3. The Show-  Great clips of the Dogg Pound and Snoop in their prime, along with Warren G when he was blowing up, and great coverage of our favorite East Coast artists such as Wu-Tang and Biggie; it really put the 90's era into perspective as far as it's relationship with the pioneers and the Ol' School.

4.  Menace to Society-  Documents the culture from which West Coast gangsta rap thrived in.  The good and the bad aspects of it.

5.  Rhyme and Reason-  Very much similar to The Show.  Kind of like a Diet version of The Show

6.  Wildstyle-  Fab 5 Freddy is the man when it comes to hip-hop, he's really one of the greatest legends and pioneers in my opinion.  From his work in this movie to his work on YoMTVRaps, his style and charisma represents what hip-hop is all about.  He was a graffiti artist coming up, and this movie starts with graffiti but touches beautifully on all the elements of hip-hop culture.  Great movie.

There's many other movies that are essential for serious hip-hop fans to see, like QD3's documentaries such as Freshest Kids or Art of Rhyming, or the 2pac documentaries, some stuff I haven't seen yet like "Scratch" I want to see, Warriors is an important movie to see... so many great documentaries out there, eventually I will see them all.  For some reason I didn't really like Beat Street or Who's the Man, don't know why because they represent a great era in hip-hop history, don't understand why I don't like those two movies, but still a MUST SEE.  For fun it's cool to watch Master P's I'm Bout It, horrible acting, but that's part of what makes it great is that it is so stripped down to it's the bare bones.
Givin' respect to 2pac September 7th-13th The Day Hip-Hop Died

(btw, Earth 🌎 is not a spinning water ball)

The thread doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Hip-hop doesn't directly translate into films. Wykid said "its a thread about movies that a hip hop fan might enjoy ie violence, gritty, drugs etc. " but what about people who don't like gangster rap? Maybe their into alternative rap or even Christian hip hop. People posting movies like Donnie Brasco (which is an awesome movie) or American Gangster that have nothing to do with hip-hop just doesn't make sense.

Infinite is the only one to post a list of films actually related to hip-hop.
