"When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it. Leave it for the alien, the fatherless and the widow, so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. When you beat the olives from your trees, do not go over the branches a second time. Leave what remains for the alien, the fatherless and the widow. When you harvest the grapes in your vineyard, do not go over the vines again. Leave what remains for the alien, the fatherless and the widow. Remember that you were slaves in Egypt. That is why I command you to do this. " Deuteronomy 24 14-22

Damn near sounds socialist to me... I wouldn't even get started in the Gospels. That's a social justice clinic.

The difference is freedom. Jesus wants us to choose helping the poor, not be forced into it. And socialism forces helping the poor. It takes the freedom and faith in people away completely. It's not something we as Christians should strive for. It becomes something we have to do by law or be punished by man.

For that alone I oppose it spiritually. Politically I oppose it because you're putting help in the hands of a state funded monopoly and that leads to lesser efficiency.

Jesus always taught that people should help the poor. Conservatives such as myself do that in tons of ways, by donating money, doing volunteer work, etc. In fact studies show that conservatives are far more likely than liberals to do those types of things. What we don't believe is that government is the best way to help the poor.

Nowhere in the Bible did Jesus talk about needing government programs to help people.

sad.  American people dont want real news.  They want news and commentary that makes them feel as if their fucked up beliefs are ok.

If Fox news isn't real news then what is?

extreme right-wing propoganda.
