even if you cleared the download box, it shouldnt have been lost just like that...shit sucks man, but if you've checked everywhere then it just shows you gotta watch out for amazon...i woulda thought if the download had finished the file would then be in the folder you've set your downloads to save to under Tools>Options>General

when you open a file with a program, as opposed to 'save' it, it goes to a temporary folder

yeah i guess the file was stored temporary & disappeared/moved when you closed mediaplayer.

well, you see, windows media player has a library & remembers all songs that were played in the past.
so it remembered the song, but it's unable to play it, since it's not available anymore ( or the file is moved to an unknown location).

sorry if i confuse you with what i'm about to say,
but Windows' method for deleting files is not 100% recovery proof.
sometimes you can still recover files, using recovery software.
