Is disliking something synonymous with hating?
« on: April 03, 2010, 09:06:09 AM »
For real, I ask this question because I see a lot of idiocy on here lately coming from all kinds of directions. There are excessive negative vibes and blatant trolling from certain posters, but its come to the stage where a legitimate discussion on music cannot be had without some idiot jumping in and proclaiming that everyone is 'hating' and that there are too many 'haters'. This is if even a tiny percentage of feedback on something is negative.

I want to put this out there - someone who cannot respect other people's opinions is just a big a hater as those that are bitter for no reason. Grow up.

Who are you talking about?  I guess more importantly am I one of those haters?

I understand this feeling you describe because recent material from Crooked I, Royce Da 5'9, and Joell Ortiz has been disappointing.  I don't really enjoy it as I do with other pieces of art they created  before.  If I present a valid argument as to why I feel this way I get shot down and either called a hater.  Likewise if I defend something I'm called a stan.  That happens quite a bit over @ 2dopeboyz and @ the Rapgodfathers forums.

I just notice that battle that went down in the Dre Detox Single thread.  Probably sparked this thought.

Yeah I noticed that too, you're a fan of a rapper & you happen to dislike a certain song from him/her & someone jumps in & calls you a hater, stupid shit. To add to the topic if you like anything by Game or have him in your sig/avatar you're automatically a stan.

I think the overuse of the 'hater' term is a more long term trend on here. Smarter people can discern the difference between a genuine hater and a valid opinion, but there are some who scream 'hater' at the first available oppurtunity. It gets kinda ridicolous at times. I notice you put some thought into your posts and provide a plenty of reasoning for saying things. It's frustrating when people miscontrue a positive or negative opnion as something it is not.

Yeah, I don't put much thought into this.   I just explain what I like and dislike.

Hey, at least this isn't okayplayer.com.

Not only is there hating and negativity and bullshit on their board... honestly 90% of the posts are people directly making fun of other posters.

Yes, it's that bad. Maybe 5% of the posts are actual music discussion.

One time Lupe Fiasco posted a thread saying that he thought Untitled was the third best Nas album, and like 50 ppl replied to his post with direct insults to his character.

So honestly for as bad as any dubcc thread ever got... it really hasn't even touched the cattyness of okayplayer.com.

its easier if you when you see "hater" think of it as "disliker", since according to most rappers if they put out a wack song and you dont like it you're a hater

So who exactly are u talking about???

Anyways, Hating to me is unequivocal destruction of someone for no reason. Like example, most niggaz say fuck Biggie cause they listen to 2pac he wasn't shit. I don't like Biggie but even I can give him proper dues on being a good MC (A course, when it comes to Originality that's a debate, The cover was a rip off from Nas, The Whole killing yourself thing was scarface).

Though I believe it's just people fail to find perspective, they ride for shit like it's there own life line, like it's there work. I can understand when someone says something you like is Garbage, but niggaz gotta remember, where all just having different taste, and differences might arise, but hate  gets thrown around 2 much. Dick Riders and Haters are basically the Extreme of Liking and Dislike. They clutter the conversation with useless praise and don't provide anything editable to the conversation.

just what I feel though.  Also on the rappers getting dissed (Lupe, Kurupt, Daz from time 2 time). These artist are surrounded by nothing but yes man, they deserve some honest feed back, I'm not saying we attack there Character unless it's in check (Like Daz fucking up fans) or just go direct insult with no reason. Respectful feed back is required, but if the nigga (who ever, famous rapper or unknown poster) gets disrespectful for us speaking the real, then chin check the nigga and calll his bitch ass out on all the factual shit.

A course, I'm just used 2 not accepting much bullshit in RL and there are times when I've fallen into the abyss of hating.

PLAYER-HATER is a word that orginated in oakland.we've been sayin it 4 many moons and decades. Hatin is when somebody is doin something that you want to do..but you lack the game to get where he's at...so you try to get there by doing foul shit to him...hatin on him.You think you should be the one doing good and your gonna become obsessed with him trying to prove to everybody that your better.

It mainly refers to the nigga that likes your bitch and he's all up in your bitch's ear dirtying up your name and telling her all kinds of foul shit about you, to get the pussy.because he lacks the game to get the pussy.Thats the true meaning of player hating.
