Creating art that encourages violence is ok but actuallying commiting violence is not.Are you even listening to yourself? You do realize people listen to the music and then act out in the same actions. You cant be ok with listening to violent music and then be against violence,it doesnt work that way. That makes you a hypocrite plain and simple.Dont feed me all this pretentious art bullshit, save that shit for someone who will actually be impressed by that first year community college mentality.

No, most people don't listen to music (art) and act out in the same way.  Are you idiotic?  Millions of people bought 50 cent albums, millions of people did not buy guns and shoot people.  Millions of people probably say the A-Team, millions of people did not go out and forms groups with high tech weapons.

It does not make me a hypocrite.

MOST PEOPLE understand that there is a suspension of reality. That art is part FANTASY.  What don't you understand?

I can't believe you don't understand this.  Are you that dense?

Life is not that literal.  People can at once enjoy an action flick and not support violence in real life.  It's not hypocrisy.

Hypocrisy would be saying you're a pacifist then beating the shit out of somebody.

It doesnt matter what MOST people do.It matters what some have done.If one person listens to violent music and then goes and hurts someone its over the line. Some people can be pushed and persueded into doing things, its called sheep mentality. The music encourages people to be violent and you support it.but dont support the actual violence.I dont care what you write, your a hyprocrite buddy just face it.You should look in the mirror and realize your just twisting your own morals for whatever you feel makes you seem like the better person. If you dont understand that music and movies effect peoples judgement and mentality you truely are an idiot.Case in point have you ever actually been to a club?or do you just sit at home listening to 50 cent with a block watcher sticker on your window? The bouncers will get the deejay to play certain songs because it fires people up and makes them violent and then the bouncers have an excuse to beat someone up because they enjoy it.The music effects people.Wake up and come down from your self imposed pedestal and look at reality.Your own stances are hyprocritical,if you cant realize that Id be surprised if you can tie your own shoes.

Honestly, you have a very twisted perspective on life.  I have not now or never denied art having an influence on people but it does not dictate them to acting against their will.  What I have argued and continue to argue is that MOST PEOPLE enjoy art through suspension of belief.  They enjoy it because it's fun.  Hence, you're club example is great.  People go to the club to,

A) Dance
B) Drink
C) Meet people (basically, get laid)

Most people, as in the majority, as in probably 95% percent of people don't go there looking for a fight.  The 5% that do aren't being influenced by the music to fight.  They've already arrived with the secret intention of looking for a fight.

Music at clubs is used to get people excited so they dance, buy drinks, spend money, and basically induce an environment that pleases the consumer.   Actual violence often does not please the consumer at clubs unless it's a paid even like a boxing match or a UFC event.

You're still confused over the simple fact that most art is,

A) suspension of belief
B) purpose is to entertain, not illicit someone to repeat the events

You're argument that a very small minority, probably less than 1% of people, that are influenced by art, go out and commit crimes and then I support the crimes because they were supposedly influenced by the music is incredibly flawed, wrong, ignorant, and stupid.  People don't commit crimes because of music.  People commit crimes for other reasons and may use art as an escape goat so they don't have to accept responsibility for their actions.  There might be a few mentally insane people that listen to music and then commit crimes but that's because they're mentally insane.

Does art influence people?

Yes.

Does art dictate people's will?

No.

I bet your the guy that bumps 50 cent in your headphones thinking your cool, then you see a drug deal go down you copy down the guys license plate and phone the cops.Rappers rap about shit that actually happens, its reality.Wether theyve witnessed or have done it themselves. And you love listening to people talk about it but you dont want to face that its actually reality.WAKE THE FUCK UP DUDE.Go listen to country or something.I think your a very sheltered person thats probably never had to deal with any kind of adversity in your life and the thought of getting in a fight makes you piss yourself. But that doesnt stop you from enjoying hip hop from the safety  of your home and then take a moral stance against violence.you sound beyond dumb dude, you sound like a little homo.Ive honestly lost any respect I had for you as a poster after this.I wouldnt be surprised if you weigh 115 pounds and look like an emo wearing extra medium jeans.

if i had a friend that made an impassionate anti violence speech then put on some rap song about murdering people Id knock him out just for being such a loser.

Aside from the all the assumptions you've made about my lifestyle and who I am which I won't bother responding to because I really don't care about proving to you who I am, you keep bringing up moot arguments while changing and expanding the scope of the conversation.

When did I deny art was influenced and based on reality?   What does that have to do with our past argument?

You can't seem to stay on topic.

Look, for the majority of people, art is a suspension of belief even if it's influence is grounded in reality.  You can't seem understand that one can enjoy art and not support someone actually conducting the lifestyle or actions in the art.   Additionally, you can't seem to grasp that this random act of violence (lil b incident) has nothing to do with music but some opportunist who pretended to be an interviewer just to get close to an artist to punch him.  You find amusement in people punching people for no reason.  I don't.  You think people are hypocrites if they enjoy an action film but they don't support killing. I don't.

Essentially, you're a vapidly insane person who has a very twisted backwards perspective on both entertainment and life.

my thing is, how can you hear a rap line like, "And if you got a glass jaw, you should watch your mouth; cuz i'll break your face" & then see a video of that & then disapprove?

i'm not somebody whose like, "yeah, let's fuck this guy up for no reason at all", but if it happens i'm not like, "ohhh jeez, this is unconstitutional!".

This specific situation is not an example of

If you got a glass jaw, you should watch your mouth, 'cause I'll break your face.

How is quoting a 50 cent bar from a track that is, at once, a testimony to his patience and desire become famous while espousing extreme braggadocio even appropriate for this situation?

It isn't.

Let's say if 50 cent was being interviewed by Drama and he asked 50 for Yayo's number.  50 said no to Drama then Drama pulls out a Luger and shoots 50.  How can any one of you look to music for an answer?  Are you that deprived of your our mental prowess that you look to music for an answer?

That's insanity for anyone to justify that action as it's insanity to justify Lil B getting punched in the face for no real reason.

I don't understand what's hard to get out of any of the arguments I've made in this thread.

This isn't even comparable to the Joe Budden-Raekwon situation which was, once again, unnecessary violence but more fitting than this random act of violence that just happened because someone wanted to make a name for themselves.

I'm not twisting your words at all.

You just can't seem to grasp the concepts I'm present to you.

Again, you're expanding and changing the conversation.   I never said violence was either evil or immoral.  I did say this,

Quote
but I don't support violence.

Quote
You're right, I don't fight nor do I associate with people that do fight.

Quote
I have been a fight before and that's exactly why I take it serious.  You're acting like it's a casual thing to do when it's not and shouldn't be one.  Fighting should always be a last resort.

I have never said violence was evil or immoral.  I said I don't support violence.  I never said it must not be used at times.  I said it's a last resort.

This is not an example of a last resort nor is it an example of time when violence must be used.

To use a metaphor, this is an example of a WOLF pretending to be a SHEEP and then sinking his teeth into a SHEEP eating some grass.

aside from dude being a 'rapper', i dont see what music really has to do with this at all....all i see is some loser nobody wit a camera who saw the opportunity to try to get sum internet fame by assaulting a slightly more known nobody while he was completely unaware and posting it on the web....and he'll get away with it too, because in any other case this jack ass woulda been in jail by incriminating himself once he uploaded the footage, but since its a rapper who got beat down, he wont be able to snitch or risk his street cred getting blown....i enjoy watching a good fight on the internet, but this is straight bitchery in its most obvious form, and i don't respect it...now if he woulda squared up wit dude like any real man would, then it mighta been slightly more entertaining, but its really kinda pathetic watching some dude who was feeling super cool about himself, what with his brand new sunglasses and outfit, getting socked up and humiliated and brought down to reality...
