Rap Star Warren G Readies, "Regulate... G Funk Era: Part. 2", The E.P., Due Later This Year

LOS ANGELES, July. 15 /2SPR/ - Multi-platinum recording artist Warren G, has announced that he will be releasing "Regulate… G Funk Era: Part. 2", an E.P. to be made available at digital retailers later this year.

"Regulate... G Funk Era", was the debut album from Warren G, in 1994 on Def Jam. The album went triple platinum stateside, selling over 4.5 million units worldwide, and debuted at Number 2 on the Billboard 200 after selling 176,000 in its release week. The lead single "Regulate" w/ Nate Dogg, was certified platinum, reached Number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and received a Grammy Award Nomination in 1995, for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. The album also birthed the hit singles "Do You See", and "This D.J.", which reached Number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100, being certified gold.

It is noted that in the early 1990's, Def Jam created "Rush Associated Labels," a larger moniker under which Def Jam and its various auxiliary labels would operate as subsidiaries under the PolyGram umbrella. By 1992, despite recent multi-platinum selling releases from LL Cool J., Public Enemy, and EPMD, Def Jam ran into severe financial troubles and was faced with folding. Salvation came in 1994, however, when PolyGram purchased Sony's 50% stake in Def Jam Recordings — subsequently bringing the label into their fold. Following PolyGram's acquisition of the company, Def Jam released Warren G's "Regulate... G Funk Era", which went triple platinum and effectively revived the label.

With seven LP's (his reunion disc with Snoop and Nate Dogg 213′ "The Hard Way" was released in 2004 and quickly went Gold) already under his belt, Warren G is expected to release the new set sometime this year.

"Regulate… G Funk Era: Part. 2", coming soon.

People might disagree with me on this, but if it's ANYTHING short of a 10 out of 10...

DO NOT RELEASE IT.

G Funk Era can't be matched, so I just hope he's not using that name to sell a record.

I'm a huge Warren G fan too, but I'm being real.

Since its an EP im thinkin it should be produced mainly by Warren and have some guest productions by Fred Wreck, Battlecat, and BellyFlop.  Guest featuring Nate, Snoop, Dogg Pound, RBX, Rage, and LaToiya Williams and maybe Jewell if they can get her on a track.

I recommend ALL artist, especially the washed up ones, to NEVER claim your new album is part 2 of your classic album.

Am I the only person that thinks 'I Want It All' is Warren G's best album?

I know that G Funk Era is the one that gets the most acclaim... but I really feel like 'I Want it All' is his classic. Flawless production, best rapping out of all of his albums... great guest spots by various Dogg Pound members... and really his most musically 'interesting' production IMO.

he should NOT call it regulate gfunk era pt2, because i believe its going to be some sellout crap like the gfiles album, with wack artists like black nick, which will be putting a stain on the name of warren's classic debut album. he's just trying to ride off some of his success of his first album, but will give us the same washed crap as his latest album, instead of listening to his fans and giving us a classic westcoast gfunk album staying true to the real sound of gfunk, which is what his first 2 albums represented, and also bringing back the twinz on the album
