Ramadan tells us that god gave us a directive to fast from sunrise to sunset.

Religion tells us 'god made everything'. There's many places on Earth ie scandanavian countries, where in the summer there is sunlight 22-24 hours of the day and in winter darkness for 22-24 hours of the day. So why would god give the instruction to us to fast from 'sunset' to 'sunrise' if he knows in parts of the world he has created that there is no 'sunrise' and 'sunset' ? clearly its an instruction from a man in the middle of a desert who would not have that knowledge at the time.

Human-beings need dogma and ritual though. Everybody needs something to believe in. It is one thing to accept something intellectually, but to accept the same thing emotionally is an entirely different matter.

There is nothing wrong with belief, dogma and ritual. Provided it is not based on ideas and actions which go completely against human nature. Like the suppression of sexuality, rationality, etc

In a way your right, I must admit.  I don't believe in absolute truth anymore.  I mean, one thing will work for somebody in one place in one condition, but be totally useless to another person in another place and condition.

The point being that if you don't like Ramadaan and don't like Islam then it's likely that you don't see much use or benefit for it in your life.  But try to understand that for people in different parts of the world in different conditions and situation Ramadaan may be truth to them and be useful, and beneficial.
