Trends is killing hip hop. There was a time that you could make your own kind of music and there was a lane for that. But now everyone is starving and trying to make a quick buck that everyone is doing the same thing. It make the music stagnant and lacks change. 2010 is starting to make a change towards more originality and variety though.

lmfao. I remember this piece of trash. I was thinking damn wtf is this garbage, but little did I know that more than half of Hip Hop would sound like this dull boring trash years later. Good point!!!!!!!!

Once it was easy for a good portion of the album-buying audience to have whatever new records they wanted for free, it was pretty much a wrap. In some cases, it's less about supporting music you enjoy and more about keeping money from artists you don't personally like. If record companies could release a diverse selection of hip-hop albums every year and make strong profit with it, they would.

There were SEVERAL things that lead to the decline of hip hop as a lot of people want it to be. "Blaming" one thing in particular for inevitable change is a waste of time.

naa man, we killed hiphop. when we stopped buying quality music like Rakim, KRS , Warren or any other ones who are considered "old" to public, of course the labels aren't gon waste their money on something that cant profit themselves. we can't blame the labels cause that's business, you don't spend ur money on shit that wont get ur money back.

I was gonna say somethin until you put that last part in there about the Labels investing money.  And those artists you mentioned are your personal taste in music and your idea of quality, not everybody elses.  Warren G had like 1 good album (and he didn't even Rap on all of tha 12 track album).

Im pretty much cosignin wit Screw on this 1.  Its like an insult to ur intelligence wen ppl say shit like that, like every single piece of music was Pure Gold from tha 90`s and everything now is just a half ass attempt at making music.  I think we should all get together and care 4 our old and sickly ex hip hop stuck in tha pre 2000`s fans, they seriously need our help 2 guide them and coach them and help them grow all over again 4 sum reasin.
