Great. Maybe fans can get drunk now and forget about DETOX. I wonder if this new drink will get pushed back as well.
it already got pushed back, as it was supposed to come out in 2008

Oh yeah...haha.

I guess it wasn't pop/techno enough.

Dre is a joke man he is not even putting DETOX out. Dude is making way too much money from the beats by Dre headphone line, HP computer line, and now this stupid vodka line or whatever. Where is the guys motivation to make music. The music trend has changed so much that he probably does not know what direction to go with for the album. I am tired of hearing him go detox is coming. Dude needs to wake up and realize that he is never putting that album out. Dre needs to be honest with the fans saying it was all a scam so him and aftermath could get a buzz.

If this is true I agree.  I would rather be told its never coming out than to be continuously lied to.  I've been waiting since they mentioned it in 2000 so yea, literally 10 years.

they should have done the music first (can you say....detox) and products like this later. this way round seems a less credible marketing strategy to me...people will just see it and get annoyed that his album is still nowhere in site.

and obviously if you get it and it doesn't taste right that's because you got the unfinished version ;D

also the new beats headphones have been delayed for quite some time now, really living up to the dr. dre name ;D

Yes this is true, but to market it as being "Dre's" shit Dre needs to stay relevant.  How can you market something to someone using an artist who hasn't released an album in over 10 years?
Only die-hards like us will actually follow a producer and know his credits, especially when no one buys cds anymore or reads the album credits.
Think about it; what new fan knows what the fuck Aftermath is?  Who has come out on Aftermath lately, Eminem?  That's it.  Everyone else gets dropped so again, you can only market this shit to older fans, not new ones.  If I walked up to a random group of people between 20-30 I bet maybe 5% or less would know what Aftermath is

Right. Dr. Dre isn't relevant at all. I'm sure those 80 million people who bought Eminem or 50 Cent albums over the last 10 years have forgot who he is completely because he hasn't put out an album as a solo artist in 10 years. Nevermind that he's the most famous producer in hip-hop history. I mean, they must have pumped that VMA venue full of geriatrics when they brought Dre out a few years to a standing ovation and he name-dropped "Detox".

People don't know who Dr. Dre is? Right. It's not like he's working on an album that every rap fan has been talking about since he announced it.

First off, I have to go back and say I think Dre is relevant in a music sense.  He will always will be.  I'm one of his biggest fans.    If you look at posts by a lot people on this die-hard west-coast forum, you'll see some that don't.  A lotta fuck detox, fuck dre, bla bla bla.  So yes a lot of people would disagree with you about the relevant thing.

Also all this Eminem and 50 sold 80 million albums, yea no shit.  But go ask the 15 year old girls who bought 60 million of these albums, who produced the hits records on them.  Do you think they know?  Of course not.  I know girls who were 11 when Next Episode came out.  They know the song now, how it sounds, and Snoop, but that is about it.  I'm sure they might know a couple other Dre joints but not so much.

In a marketing sense, that is my point.  I think if it was the same cognac but said Eminem Cognac it might do better because of how active he is.

EDIT: And is Detox is a smash I think he could market his own damn line of gin and juice hang over pills if he wanted to   8)

Why should he even release Detox?  He's making close to 20million an year alone of Beats headphones, this is just more change for him

I can see why he has no motivation, he had something to prove with 2001 because people thought he fell off, in 2010 everyone is on his dick talking about him and he hasn't put out a good beat in 5 years
Guess who back in the motherfuckin house
With a fat dick for your motherfuckin mouth
Hoes recognize, niggaz do too

Yes, I do think the 15-year-old girls who bought those albums know who Dr. Dre is. He was a fairly vocal part of the promotion, early on. Not the most central part obviously but there is way more than enough of an audience to suggest his name could make some money in some outside ventures. And I'm also pretty sure teenage girls won't be buying Cognac or high-end headphones for their speakers either.
