How does one rapper falling off set the west back 10 years?

Cause Game is really the only rapper aside from Snoop that has had any kind of mainstream success recently. Personally I don't really care about how popular Westcoast music is, but Game falling off hurts the coast from a mainstream standpoint.

Good point, but you don't see the Black Eyed Peas representing the Westcoast to the extent that Game does (or at all for that matter). Like I said, I prefer underground hip hop to mainstream regardless, but I think it's hard to ignore the significance of a commercially successful rapper like Game falling off, especially on a coast that currently has very little successful mainstream artists. Even though Game didn't promote his artists as much as he should have, he was still a guy from the Cali gangsta rap scene that was selling as much as anyone.

How does one artist make a coast relevant? My point is that the west coast rap scene hasn't been relevant in years, whether Game was mainstream or not.

Thing was Game got a nice buzz going but it was more West Coast 90's nostalgia than any kind of real movement. Labels who already had established West Coast rappers were making some money but they weren't signing anyone new to some huge deal. I mean if the West was back in the spotlight heavy, things would have materialized everywhere. G-Unit would have pushed Spider Loc. Crooked I, Jayo Felony, Jay Rock, Glasses Malone, Eastwood, Bishop Lamont, all of these guys would have had albums already. If it were as big as some people say it was, some major would have given Game a label deal for Black Wallstreet and made a killing. The thing was G-Unit had a new artist and the West had a guy who made it cool to talk about low-riders and listening to N.W.A. and Snoop again. That's cool but you have a window on that and nobody really jumped when the time was good.
