Favorite Instrument?
« on: December 22, 2002, 06:09:08 PM »
What is it?

Mine is the acoustic guitar - narrowing it down would be nylon stringed - electric-acoustic.  Those have the best sounds, I love em.

Acoustics are used in almost every type of music, surely in rock, jazz, country, pop, r&b and hip-hop.  I think the only genres in music that doesn't use them is like Techo and Electronica.

Paaceeeeeeeee!

The greatest instrument is the piano.

Beyond that, I'd say the violin.   Peace~

Piano & violin were around since like the creation of music, lol.  They are ancient.

Drums too, cave men were banging on rocks and shit when they had nothing to do.

Great things last.  Please tell me you're not excusing them since they're old.  Have you heard of the Lute?  Ancestor to your nylon string guitar?  You know pianos, guitars, and violins are all the same type of instrument, right?  It's just my opinion, anyways, no big deal.

Like the guitar a piano is a string instrument.  It's also a percussive instrument, and you can make sounds with 10 fingers, as opposed to 5 on a guitar.  You can play rhythm, and lead at the same time, much more effectively then you can on a guitar.  Entire compositions can be played on it, and it has at least 7 octaves, an acoustic guitar probably has 5.  No instrument even compares to the range and versatility a piano has, and that's a fact.

The violin is just a personal favorite, though, it's just a beautiful sound.

I love when the horns are used nicely in hip-hop.  Refer to Pete Rock.

guitar, i prefer acoustic but basically guitar in general

what has been done with the guitar over the years by musicians such as jimi hendrix, kurt cobain etc. has been amazing - some of the greatest bands and songs rely on guitar

band: hendrix experience
pearl jam
red hot chili peppers etc

songs: stairway to heaven
nothing else matters etc

actually that was a Ukelele, a bass and a drum program  ;)

but my favorite instrumento is the electric guitar and the piano\

why electric, becuase you can experiment ALOT with it, different distortions, pickups, customizations ect. accoustics are tight too but they're confined to only a small range of sound

piano is dope too, i don't think you deserve to call yourself a muscian unless you can play the piano

ACTUALLY, the "bding bding" sound used in "Still D.R.E." was a Ukelele, a piano, and something else (I can't remember), it was three different instruments tho.  And there are violins in the song too.

Anyway, Acoustic Guitar is my Fav.
