The Neptunes, part: What the fuck happened?

I remember back in 2001-06, The Neptunes was the shit. Many of the beats they banged out where instant bangers, but somewhere along the way they fell off. Hard.

There is many more great songs produced by The Neptunes than my contribution. Too bad they didn't stay concistent over the years.

It seems over the last couple years, Pharrell and Chad have been doing there own thing a lot. Of course they did the N.E.R.D. album together with Shay, and have been touring a lot. But tracks labelled "Produced By The Neptunes" ..you can tell that Chad most likely had no, or little involvement wth the beat. ("Amazing" - T.I., "Haterade" - Gucci Mane, "First Time" - Tyga.. just to name a few recent tracks)

Though Pharrell has mentioned a new Neptunes album is in the works (sequal to "...Clones") so hopefully they'll be back with something fresh.

Definitely looking forward to Kenna's new album too

personally I liked the Pushin´ It track, and even though the Amazin´ track was crap.. I liked the Hypnotize U single by N.E.R.D...

When reading this topic I thought the same thing I thought of when I was reading the `dre fell off since ´06` topic.

DON´T BE SO QUICK TO HATE ON YOUR FAVORITE PRODUCERS!!

Just be patient.. maybe this is just a fase to experiment or it´s just that they´re so busy that they don´t have time to make decent beats.
Remember, the rappers pick the beats that Neptunes give them..

i agree they fell off from making many incredible, genre busting joints to not much on that level at all. nobody is able to maintain that type of standard but it did go along with pharell/chad not working as closely together. the new n.e.r.d. album is very dope though! for me that's the closest to a true update on their original sound but with more modern drums etc. whether they can make monster hits for other artists again remains to be seen. and pharell was still no joke as a solo producer, did some interesting stuff when he was working more on his own. easily one of the most talented people in the industry.
