seems this took place around new years. he doesn't say anything interesting about detox.
this interwiew is old like 2 years am i right? relapese? why talk about that album after two years?
From what I've listened to, Dawaun Parker talked about his experience working for Interscope/Aftermath. Dr. Dre is a player coach and he's part of the team. He was hired out of Berkley and from the beginning he was credited for any work that was published. He works with Dr. Dre more than he does with MCs. He talked about how they constantly work on multiple projects at a time and it's never for sure what material will go to whom until it's officially decided. They make music, not necessarily for any MC. For example, talks about creating Crack A Bottle with Dr.Dre and only latter did Eminem acquire the beat and write for it. He's credited as co-writer but that does not mean he wrote verses, it just means he wrote part of the music. He cares less about making money and more about the quality of product released. A typical day in recording consists of making music they want to make and not music they feel obligated to make. There are many discussions between him and Dr. Dre concerning music. When he does interact with MCs such as Eminem it's about other music or non musical activities - it does not usually include a reflection on their own work. For example. Parker & Eminem had a conversation where Parker reflected on his youth and how the underground (from where Parker was from Sage Francis was big) influenced him but he does not create music like that type of underground artist. When questioned about Relapse and how he felt about Eminem's comments that it was disappointing, Parker simply said that when you're creating music it's all positive energy and post reception is always different. He doesn't regret anything about the music. He talks about how some people come up to him and tell him they love the album more than Recovery and how some weren't fans of it. Basically, despite Eminem's comments, it's still of a body work that is not immediately diminished because Eminem is disappointed. When questioned about Detox he says everyone is waiting on Dr.Dre to push the button. He states "You never know with Dr. Dre. He could wake up one day and start over." Dawaun says it's not like he's been working on it the entire time he's been working under Dr. Dre. Only in the last year did they start creating songs here and there for Detox. He's sure it'll be revealed when Dr. Dre is ready. He says "He knows Detox is at the finish line if not done." He talks about creating music for Raekwon & Cory Gunz. He shouts out Bishop Lamont & D.O.C when they're brought up by the interviewers. His own music is a project. It could range from an ep to a double disc album. He doesn't reveal too much about it. He is not in a rush to release his music. First, it's about quality over quantity.
