I listened to this again today and specifically payed attention to Em's lyrics, which I actually really like now. Actually, the whole theme of the track is real cool and would make for a good intro, BUT the lyrics/hook is only a quarter of what anybody is looking for in a Dre track. I won't get into the other 3 quarters as that's a beat topic.

I might actually like the song if Em wasn't yelling and they had put more thought into their delivery. After being forced to listen to his Recovery singles all summer (at work) its just unbearable to hear.

    Just less than a day into the release, 'I Need a Doctor' just passed 'Love the Way You Lie' on iTunes into rank 84, 13, 9, 3, 2 and now ranking at 1.

    Dre is maybe trying to pull in new/young generation people that dont know him, through Eminem etc. Back in 1999, the young folks heard about Dre through Eminem etc. Maybe it was the same for some who were young back in 1999.

    They probably using the same strategy now. Maybe im wrong.

    Watch this space for the new music video which was directed by Allen Hughes, who was behind the movie 'The Book of Eli'.

Jimmy and marketing over at Interscope said to Dre, "make sure you have a single, make something we can sell easily..."
And Dre was like, mmm, ok, I'll make a dancey number and have Akon on it and make it sound like the rest of the Detox tracks, but a little more obviously commercial,
and he's like, "Here you go guys, I did the single! It's called Kush" ...

And then Jimmy & Co were like, "wellll... ok, we'll try that as well, but just in case that doesn't really light the world on fire, then how about you just drop a little verse on the end of this Eminem track he did for you..."
