Well I actually agree with some of the things you have said there, but this is why in my opinion they have to be seen to be losing sometimes, but in doing so nullify the growing anger. They could have temporarily alleviated food prices, but this was about a dramatic turn of events which, if one of their stooges gets in, was of no consequence and more importantly broke the back of the Egyptian people.

However in the case of Iran, well one of the reasons for having someone like him, lets assume for a sec, that he is another pawn, is because the establishment must have an enemy, both for psychological purposes, for speculating purposes and for military purposes.

First off, this is the biggest news of the year, and maybe of the 2010's. The end results of this could shape US relations with the Middle East for a very long time. Second, I am sure at least the people of Egypt care.

1978 president carter visits iran and gives a speech

1979 iran's shah overthrown as a dictator like mubarak

1979 - now... IR regime comes into power and everything goes south from there

2010 obama visits egypt and gives a speech

2011 mubarak gets overthrown as a dictator on the same exact date shah was overthrown

2011- future....??

see the pattern
