much appreciated this sounds amazing. great job homie !

Mr.(Ko)Kane

Just heard some of the samples as well, and I am really curious what some of the other songs are like. The vocals sound much cleaner now. I would appreciate the full album, special attention goes to "Head Doctor" - the song did sound good before, can't wait how it sounds after you put your hands on it. Would be nice to get a PM from you. :)

Good job on not tweaking the EQ that much. Most remasters sound even worse due to some kids just tweaking the EQ. Still bumping the Nate Dogg album.  8)

Hi everyone,

Here is the remastered version of WideAwake’s recent release: LBC Crew – Haven’t You Heard that I’ve been working on, available (in part) below with a couple of tracks uploaded individually to sample. Apologies for this taking longer than expected, as I said in the other thread I’ve been working with some new equipment on this which sounds incredible, but there was a bit of a learning curve to integrate into what I usually use and get everything sounding the way I wanted. I’m happy to say everything turned out great and I’m really happy with the final product. I can say with confidence if you listen to the audio below you are going to be very, very pleased.

I focused on audio balance through a variety of different outputs (computer speakers, component stereo systems, separates in several really nice car audio systems etc) and it sounds great all around.  Play this on your computer for sure but be sure to throw it on a CD too; it’s going to sound great in the car.

NOTES:
Several of these tracks appear to suffer from audio deterioration or inadequate/fucked-up mixing. Examples of these would be “Dippin’ in my Low Low” and “Get up 2 Get Down.” I avoided heavy EQ use all around, so most (if not all) of the audio imperfections present before still remain here. Don’t get me wrong they sound much, much better now but just fair warning on those two.

You’ll notice the main difference in all the music here is the presence of a cleaner, larger, richer, more crisp dynamic sound… (not to mention louder) without the oppressive low end, chunky mids, and flat highs that that smothered the music before. It was nice to have professionally mixed and mastered versions of “Out the Moon” and “(indo) Blueberry” on-hand for reference when I was working on this—definitely kept them in mind and tried to emulate what I liked.

I added “Six Shooter”, “Doggystyle ‘96” and “Beware of My Crew” to the track order and sequenced it according to the original track list we got back in ‘97 (jpeg provided in the .rar file). I didn’t add “Hit Rocks” or “Funk Wit Yo Brain” though, mainly because the latter of the two sounds atrocious in its current form and can’t be fixed to sound listenable. I figure we’ve all heard Hit Rocks 1000x times so may as well leave it off.

“Doggystle ‘96” and “Six Shooter” coming from that Ultimate Death Row Vault deal appear to have been given some treatment prior, but they sound a lot better here too (surprise).

FULL DOWNLOAD + BONUS TRACKS
I uploaded a link to 6 songs off the remaster to sample (below). I’ll PM a link to the full album to everyone who responds with feedback in this thread.  In addition to this I also remastered “Head Doctor (OG – CDQ)” “Smoke Enough Bud” and “Just Watchin’” along with this release and they sound great… (especially Head Doctor OG). I’ll send a link for those as well.

Thanks everyone, enjoy!!!

it amazes me how efrain can deliver a superior product, in a few short weeks, when WA had who knows how much time and couldn't deliver a product half as good.  goes to show you who is really putting in work.  this sounds amazing, props. can't wait for the link to bump it from beginning to end.

granted its possible that WA is very short on cash and decided to pay some random $200 to spend 3 hours mastering the album, and then called it a day from there.

Props for the pm Efrain. Damn, no remastered Out The Moon (Daz Remix)? That was one I was really hoping you might have remastered. I would have taken that over Doggfather's Disciple. Started listening to the Intro 2 The Indo and it's completely night and day between what WA did and your remastering. I can't get over how well of a job you did man. I just quickly flipped to Get Up To Get Down and Dippin' In My Low Low to check those and they don't sound that bad even though you mentioned those have some sound issues. You definitely made those ones sound better. All in all, a very good remaster. WA should hire you to remaster their mp3s since it's obvious they aren't pulling them straight from the masters.

Efrain, you know what to do.

Did you ever get round to remastering Street Life?

So which was the "Beware Of My Crew" that was suppose to be on the original album? The version on Efrain's mixed version or the one on the "Thin Line Between Love and Hate" soundtrack? Both are tight I'm just curious.
