Our Detox who Flop in heaven,
overrated be thy name,
thy wackness come,
thy will be done,
in Cali as it is in Europe,
give us this day our early leaks,
and forgive us our bootleggers,
for we promote those who bootleg the wankstas,
and lead us not into some gay shit,
but deliver us from wiggers,
Amen.

(CNN) — Fans and celebrities alike are pausing with reflection as word spreads that hip-hop artist and vocalist Nate Dogg passed away on Tuesday. His longtime manager, Rod McGrew, confirmed to CNN that Nate Dogg, born Nathaniel Hale, died at the age of 41.

Hale — who was the legendary master of the rap hook - famously appeared on Dr. Dre's seminal album "The Chronic," and provided vocals for a number of rappers, in addition to releasing his own solo work with albums such as "G-Funk Classics Vol. 1 & 2" and "Music & Me."

He collaborated on a number of hits, including the track that will never age, "Regulate" with Warren G, as well as Dr. Dre's "The Next Episode," Snoop Dogg's "Lay Low" and 50 Cent's "21 Questions."

As of Wednesday, McGrew told CNN that the family has yet to receive an official cause of death, although McGrew believes the artist died of natural causes. Complications from the two strokes Hale suffered in the past few years could have been a factor as well.

According to McGrew, Hale had recovered 95 percent from his first stroke, but the second stroke was "deeper and more severe" and left him in a "challenging physical state."

Hale's manager added that the second stroke left the artist partially paralyzed and for the most part bedridden, although he could be moved to a wheelchair for outings.

McGrew, who along with Hale's mother, sister and stepfather, was at Hale's side in the hospital, called the death sudden.

Of course, the loss of Nate Dogg has reverberated throughout the hip-hop community and beyond.

"We lost a true legend n hip hop n rnb," collaborater and friend Snoop Dogg tweeted. "One of my best friends n a brother to me since 1986 when I was a sophomore at poly high where we met.... I miss u cuzz I am so sad but so happy I got to grow up wit u and I will c u again n heaven cuz u know d slogan...all doggs go to heaven."

Ludacris, who worked with Hale on "Area Codes," concurred, re-tweeting Snoop's sentiment of "RIP Nate Dogg" and adding, "There is a certain void in hip hop's heart that can never be filled. Glad we got to make history together."

Added musician Erykah Badu, "Nate Dogg... freshness period. rest in beats."

GLAD I CHILLED WITH NATHANIEL DAWAYNE HALE WHEN HE WAS IN THE HOSPITAL! I WOULD TELL YOU HIS ALIAS NAME BUT THATS JCCAHO VIOLATION! ANYWAY, HE WAS COOL AFTER HIS 1ST STROKE AND WAS PUT ON COUMADIN, A BLOOD THINNER... NOBODY REALLY VISITED HIM AFTER THAT... SO HE GOT DEPRESSED AND SNORTED SOME YAY... POOR GUY DIDNT EVEN REALIZE WHAT HE WAS DOING AND BAM! HAD A SECOND STROKE! PARALYZED HIM AND DAMN... HE DIDNT LOOK HIMSELF! ON A VENTILATOR AND WAS ALWAYS SWEATING LIKE CRAZY! DAMN... HE DIDNT WANT TO BE HERE WITH US ANYWAY, THIS IS WHAT HE WANTED YA'LL! SO JUST REMINISCE HIS G-FUNK CLASSICS! R.I.H. (REST IN HEAVEN)

AND OH YEA! I DIDNT SEE ANY RAPPER THERE AT THE HOSPITAL TO PAY DUES! JUST MAINLY HIS IMMEDIATE FAMILY! SO FVCK 'EM!

Even if what you say is true, you shouldn't disclose such personal information.  I'm sure his immediate family would be proud that you're telling everyone this.

I feel quite bad that this isn't all that surprising, nor that it's had a huge impact/surprise on me. I don't know if that's a combination of his illness, or the slope of his (or lack of) success in modern times

That being said, the entire "music" industry has lost a unique individual, not just the Hip Hop community. He could literally change the feel of a song with a simple hook due to his voice that couldn't be matched. He wasn't even classed as R&B, and unlike other dime-a-dozen singers out there (Ne-yo, Usher, Bruno Mars and so on) he stood out from the crowd, and his work in the 90's helped paved the way for current R&B singers to be merged into rap songs today. We wont ever get another Nate Dogg in this lifetime

RIP Nate Dogg
