I actually think this is Quik's best album, with Rhythmalism a close second.  I know that's not a popular opinion, but there's just something about this album i like.

those skits were funny. added a nice touch of humor and fun to the cd/music.

i too, think this is his best solo album thus far.

I personally like this album more than Rhythm-al-ism.  Beats had more appeal to me.

Balance & Options, and Rythm-alism were the 2 albums that personified what his signature sound was, and are the favourites beat-wise, but

Quik Is The Name still remains my favourite in overall terms since it was one of the first Hip Hop tapes I'd ever bought, and had it on repeat for a long while after. It showed what 90's West Coast gangsta rap was all about. Tonight, Born and Raised in Compton, 8 Ball, Sweet Black Pussy, first ever Quiks grove. This had everything, and was playable all the way through unlike a lot of other commercialised gangsta rap tapes around that time. I got That feelin, and bombud were both smokable songs, and different from other Rap tapes. Always overlooked when talking about Quiks versatility, and quality

for me, his solo work in the order i like....balance & options. quik is the name, safe n sound. way 2 fonky, rhythm-al-ism..this order is subject to change when i hear the book of david.....under the influence and trauma...ill have to listen to the tracks on those albums again...cuz, honestly, i skimmed through those albums far as listening to them and never purchased.

Balance and Options had some sick BEATS and I think he took his Rhyming to another level in this album.

I dont want to party with you, is one of Quik's best tracks. Straight classic beat and rhyme. One of my favorite Quik albums!
+1

..."and the horse wants his 'fro back" shit makes me laugh everytime, it's one of my all-time favorite Quik songs, tight beat, great lyrics and funny shit talkin going on in the hook, classic! Balance and Options is my second favorite on my Quik list.

1. Safe + Sound
2. Balance & Options
3. Quik Is the Name
4. Rhythmalism
5. Trauma
6. Way 2 Funky
7. Under the Influence

I like "Quik Is the Name", "Rhythmalism" and "Trauma" about the same depending on my mood (I pulled the 4 songs that came out on the Trauma mixtape that were not on the album and made my own version of Trauma which I like better). Safe + Sound is still my shit though, Quik going hard at Eiht, he flipped a few dope samples on that one and his beats were funky as hell, not one weak song imo.

Just like Quik said, it was an album for the "grown ups". I love 'Speak On It' & 'Change Da Game'.
This album was a risk on his part but it worked out in the end.
Its a classic . Period.
Either due to its bangers or its own distinctive sound EVEN within his own catalogue.
It's up the with my top 3 Quik albums.

Right after my last post I was going to mention that but didn't wanna spam too much bullshit
Do Watcha Want is another song that stands out from his whole catalogue! Closest to that sound would be on S+S or Rhythmalism.
Straight party record.
